OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: CFS instructs the trade to suspend the import of raw oysters produced by Earl Huitres Geay FR 17.452.121 CE in France after the raw oysters were linked to three food poisoning cases from three separate restaurants. All three victims had consumed these oysters.

Food Safety Alert: FDA advises restaurants and retailers not to sell or serve, and consumers not to purchase or eat, Enoki mushrooms produced by Shandong Youhe Biotechnology Co., China and distributed by Sun Hong Foods, Inc., due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Samples of these mushrooms have yielded a Listeria monocytogenes strain that match the strains recovered from patients in an ongoing outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections.

(Mother Dairy) recalls Mother Dairy brand Paneer Fresh Cheese (340g & 1.9 kg; Expiry codes 2023/03/08 & 23MR08, respectively; UPC 6 98708 98763 3 & 6 98708 98764 0, respectively) due to E. coli contamination. The recalled product was sold in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (Slovenia): The National Institute of Public Health reports an outbreak of 138 cases of Salmonella infections (94 lab-confirmed and 44 probable) that took place November 12-26, 2022 was linked to the consumption of steak tartare. Sampling and analysis carried out as part of a series of inspections of the supplier’s operations recovered Salmonella isolates that were closely related to the outbreak strain.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (Sweden): The Public Health Agency reports 48 cases of Salmonella Enteritidis infections spread across 13 regions of Sweden in an outbreak that has been linked genetically to contaminated eggs from a single producer. The contaminated eggs, which were distributed under a number of different brand names, were recalled earlier in January.
