Outbreak/Illness Investigations
CZECHIA: The Prague Public Health Authority reports 363 cases of gastrointestinal illness linked to meals prepared on September 21, 2026, at Masaryk Primary School in Újezd nad Lesy, Prague, Czechia. Salmonella has been confirmed in 22 of the outbreak patients, with additional results pending. Epidemiology implicates a dish prepared with eggs that were past their Best before date, compounded by probable deficiencies in cooking procedures.
USA: CDC and FDA are investigating a 9-state outbreak of E. coli O26:H11 infections linked to consumption of Graziers raw milk cheeses sold by Sierra Nevada Cheese Company. Thirteen people have been confirmed to be part of the outbreak, including 8 hospitalized and 3 with HUS. More than one half of the victims are children 5 years of age or younger.

Food Safety Recall: Sierra Nevada Cheese Company recalls Sierra Nevada Graziers medium cheddar, sharp cheddar, jalapeno jack, and Monterey jack grass-fed raw milk cheeses (8oz and 16 oz retail packages and 5-lb foodservice loaves; All lots) due to possible E. coli O26:H11 contamination.
Food Safety Recall: G. L. Mezzetta Inc. recalls Mezzetta Greek Peppers (32 oz jar; Lot 720106) due to possible foreign matter contamination (pest contaminant in jar).
Food Safety Recall: Sempio Food Services Inc. recalls approximately 4,596 pounds of Sempio Korean Ginseng ready-to-eat chicken stew products that were imported into the US without the benefit of import reinspection.
Food Safety Recall: Fontanini Foods LLC recalls Fontanini PORK SAUSAGE LINKS (10 lb cardboard carton; Packed on 06/23/2026) due to foreign matter contamination (clear, hard plastic).
