Outbreak/Illness Investigations
USA: Multiple US states are reporting unusual numbers of Cyclospora cases. Outbreaks have been reported in Illinois (161), Michigan (1,562), North Carolina (205), South Carolina (11), and Ohio (177), for a total of 2,116 illnesses. A common source for these reported cases has not been determined. The CDC has been slow to update its case numbers, and is reporting only 843 cases in 31 states as of July 9, 2026.
