United States
OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: The CDC investigation into an outbreak of E. coli O157:H7 illnesses of unknown source is ongoing. There are now 37 confirmed cases, including 10 hospitalizations, in four states. Cases have been reported in Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Indiana. A specific food has not yet been confirmed as the source of this outbreak, but many sick people reported eating sandwiches with romaine lettuce at Wendy’s restaurants in Michigan, Ohio and Pennsylvania before getting sick. Based on this information, Wendy’s is taking the precautionary measure of removing the romaine lettuce being used in sandwiches from restaurants in that region.
Public Health Alert: FSIS issues a public health alert due to concerns that specific Hawaii Big Island Beef brand ground beef products may be adulterated with E. coli O157:H7. A recall was not requested because the products are no longer available for purchase. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were distributed only in Hawaii.
Food Safety Recall: Kingdom Creamery of Vermont recalls fourteen (14) ice cream products sold under multiple brand names due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please follow the link for details of the affected products, which were distributed to consignees in Vermont, Maine and Massachusetts. No public recall notice has been issued. Consignees were notified of the recall by telephone.
Food Safety Recall: Blue Diamond Growers recalls multiple batch codes of Whole Brown Almonds (bulk) due to Salmonella contamination. No public recall notice has been issued. Consignees in the United States (California, Colorado and Illinois), Germany, Morocco, and Canada were notified of the recall by email.
Food Safety Recall: Epicurean Butter LLC recalls Wegmans Lemon Dill Finishing Butter (3.5 oz 8-count; Multiple lot codes; Multiple expiration dates) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected product.
Canada
Allergy Alert: Sofina Foods Inc. recalls Mastro San Daniele brand Charcuterie Trio – Prosciutto Cotto, Capocollo, Mortadella (250g; Lot BR074503; Best before 2022 SE 27; UPC 0 60085 09974 0) due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was sold in British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories.
Allergy Alert: Cache Cuisine Inc. recalls Cache Cuisine brand Pro-licious Protein Pancake & Waffle Mix (340g; All codes where milk is improperly declared on the label; UPC 8 36662 00036 8) due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was sold nationally.
Food Safety Recall: Tony Boucherie (Pont-Rouge, QC) recalls Saumon fumé Tony sv / Smoked salmon (Sold up to 17 August 2022) due to absence of “keep frozen until use” mandatory labeling.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (Hong Kong): The Centre for Food Safety is pursuing an investigation into two food poisoning clusters involving sandwiches, including inspecting the food factory concerned. A sample of smoked salmon collected from the premises was found to contain a pathogen, Group D Salmonella.
