FDA Warning Letter: FDA issues formal Warning Letter to Onofrio’s Fresh Cut, Inc. citing the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the environment of the facility and various deficiences in the construction and maintenance of the production facility and in the cleaning and sanitizing procedures.

Europe
OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (Norway): The Norwegian Institute of Public Health is investigating an outbreak of Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections in more than ten hospitals. The outbreak was discovered in November 2021 when three patients admitted to UNN Tromsø for covid-19 became seriously ill and died of blood poisoning with identical bacterial strains. Pseudomonas aeruginosa thrives in water and humid environments. It rarely causes disease in healthy people, but can cause serious infection in intensive care patients and patients with weakened immune systems. The source of the Norwegian outbreak has not yet been found.

Allergy Alert (Italy): Le Bonta’ SrL recalls Nuova Terra brand Cous Cous 4 cereali biologico / Organic 4-grain cous cous (250g; Lot #1021821; Best before 28-02-2023) due to undeclared mustard.
Allergy Alert (Sweden): Alfred Johansson Kött & Chark recalls Malmö Zebbe Sausage (500g; Best before dates up to and including 25-01-2022) due to undeclared mustard powder.
