United States
OUTBREAK ALERT UPDATE: Contaminated red onions produced by Thomson International, Inc. (Bakersfield, CA) are linked to 396 confirmed cases of Salmonella Newport infections and 59 hospitalizations. Thomson has recalled all red, yellow, white, and sweet yellow onions shipped from May 1, 2020 to present.
PUBLIC HEALTH ALERT: USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issues a public health alert for ready-to-eat (RTE) beef and chicken taquitos and chimichangas products containing FDA-regulated diced green chilies that have been recalled by the producer, Sun Valley Foods, LLC based in El Paso, Texas, due to concerns that the products may be contaminated with foreign matter (pieces of hard plastic). Allergy Alert: H-E-B recalls Blue Cheese Salmon Burgers (dates with dates up to and including 8/3/2020) due to undeclared wheat. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.
Allergy Alert: SmithFoods Inc. recalls Earth Grown Vegan Non-Dairy Almond Based Frozen Desserts (16-oz / pint packs; various flavors and Best By codes) due to undeclared cashews. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.
Canada
OUTBREAK ALERT and Food Safety Recall (Update): Botsis Fruits & Vegetables Inc., Fresh Forward Inc., Freshpoint Canada Inc., Fruiticana Produce Ltd., Krown Produce Inc., Persia Foods Products Inc., Seoul Trading Corp., Sewa Enterprises Ltd., and Sysco Canada Inc. recall red, yellow, white, and sweet yellow onions grown by Thomson International Inc., Bakersfield, California, and imported from the USA. The red onions have been linked to an outbreak of 120 Salmonella Newport infections in 7 provinces. Seventeen Canadians have been hospitalized.

Food Safety Recall (France): Leader Price recalls Leader Price brand Filets de harengs fumés doux / mild smoked herring filets (200g; Lot #Z1775 R HEF 016; Expiration date 10/08/2020) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Food Safety Recall (Iceland): Reykjagarður hf. recalls Holta, Kjörfugl and Króna brands of fresh chicken – whole and pieces (Traceability numbers 002-20-26-3-01 and 003-20-26-2-01) due to possible Salmonella contamination.
Food Safety Recall (Ireland): Co-op recalls Co-op Sliced Curly Kale (160g; All Best Before dates between 04 and 11 August 2020; Product of UK) because the packs may contain thistle (spiky weeds).
