United States

OUTBREAK ALERT: CDC reports a deadly multistate outbreak of Salmonella Dublin infections linked to ground beef. Ten people from six states have been infected with the outbreak strain. Eight of the ten outbreak victims were hospitalized, and there has been one death. Outbreak cases have been reported by California (2), Colorado (3), Iowa (1), Kansas (2), Oklahoma (1) and Texas (1). CDC is not recommending that consumers avoid ground beef, but is reminding the public to ground beef to an internal temperature of 160°F. A single, common supplier of the ground beef has not been identified, and no recalls have been announced.
