Outbreak/Illness Investigations

GERMANY and AUSTRIA: Food Safety News reports an outbreak of Salmonella Infantis that has sickened 63 individuals in Germany and Austria. Most of the victims are children. The illnesses have been linked to consumption of Dm drogerie markt brand organic cashew butter with raspberries.

USA: An outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections that has been under investigation by the FDA for several weeks appears to be linked to contaminated eggs. Please see August Egg Company recall notice, below.

Food Safety Recall: Alex Kontos/Flavor-Pic Tomato Company recalls Whole select cucumbers (1/2 bushel; Lot 3-182769; Pack date May07) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: August Egg Company recalls 1,700,000 dozen brown cage free and brown certified organic eggs (Plant code P-6562 or CA5330; Julian Dates between 32 to 126) due to potential Salmonella Enteritidis contamination. This recall is associated with an ongoing outbreak investigation of Salmonella Enteritidis illnesses. Products were distributed in AZ, CA, IL, IN, NE, NM, NV, WA and WY.

Allergy Alert: Seasia Foods Ltd recalls Binggrae brand Power Cap, Watermelon Flavored Ice Tube (6 x 130 ml; Multiple date codes; UPC 8 801104 302142) due to undeclared milk.

Food Safety Recall: The Market Garden recalls Bornibus brand Tehina (240g; Batch code 5013HB; Expiry 01/2027) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Ferme de Ladurantaye (Cap-Saint-Ignace, QC) recalls JAMBON HACHÉ / Chopped ham (Best before 12 June 2025) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
