OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: FDA has released a list of retail locations where onions implicated in the ongoing multi-state Salmonella Oranienburg outbreak were sold.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA issues Warning Letter to Jule’s Foods following an inspection of the company’s ready-to-eat (RTE) vegan cashew brie products manufacturing facility. The inspection was initiated as part of a Salmonella multi-state outbreak investigation by the CDC and the FDA.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: CDC reports 592 confirmed cases of Salmonella Oranienburg infections in 36 states, with 116 people hospitalized. The investigation has not yet identified a food linked to illness.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (SWEDEN): Since July 2019, 36 people have been reported ill with several different types of Salmonella. The illnesses have been linked to consumption of sesame-based products from Syria, including tahini and halvah. This outbreak is international in scope.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: CDC reports 102 confirmed cases of Salmonella Thompson infections in 14 states. The cases are linked to consumption of seafood distributed by Northeast Seafood Products of Denver, Colorado. The majority of sick people are either Colorado residents or reported traveling to Colorado in the week before they got sick. Only two people did not report travel to Colorado in the week before they got sick.

Allergy Alert: Simple Mills recalls Fine Ground Sea Salt Almond Flour Crackers (4.25oz / 120g; Best by 02/12/2022, 02/13/2022, 02/14/2022 & 02/15/2022) due to undeclared milk.

Food Safety Recall: Northeast Seafood Products, Denver, CO recalls multiple seafood products that have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The recalled items include Haddock, Monkfish, Bone-in Trout, Grouper, Red Snapper, Red Rock Cod, Ocean Perch, Pacific Cod, Halibut, Coho Salmon, Atlantic Salmon Portions, Lane Snapper, Tilapia, All Natural Salmon Fillet, Pacific Sole, and Farm Raised Striped Bass. The recall is the result of several positive samples revealed during an FDA inspection, conducted during the course of an investigation of a multistate outbreak of Salmonella Thompson illnesses.
