Allergy Alert: Cavendish Farms Corporation recalls Cavendish Farms brand Classic Hash Brown Patties (1.2 kg; Best before 2024 FE 14; UPC 0 56210 26106 9) and Cavendish Farms brand no name brand Potato Patties (1.2 kg; Best before 2023 AU 04 LB, 2023 AU 05 LB, 2023 AU 06 LB; UPC 0 60383 01048 5) due to undeclared wheat.

Food Safety Recall: BBQ Labonté La Boucherie (Drummondville, QC) recalls Saumon fumé / Smoked salmon (packages sold up to 14 March 2022) due to lack of mandatory storage temperature labeling.

Europe

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (France): Santé publique France reports 26 cases of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) or of severe E. coli infections have been reported from nine regions of metropolitan France. Two children have died. The affected children range in age between 1 and 15 years. An additional 22 cases are under investigation. The source of the infections has not yet been found.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Lidl Ireland recalls Culinea Paella; frozen (750g; Batch #L1354-2; Best before 20/06/2023) due to undecalred crustaceans, fish, milk and molluscs.

Allergy Alert (Luxembourg): Henri Raffin recalls Henri Raffin brand Spécialité de viandes séchées 100% Jambon / dried pork sausage, 100% ham (200g; Lot 20115036; Best before 11/04/2022) due to undeclared nuts.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): LEADER PRICE recalls LEADER PRICE brand 6 QUENELLES NATURE AUX OEUFS / 6 Natural egg quenelles (240g; All Use by dates between 23/02/2022 and 17/03/2022) due to possible Listeria contamination.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): AFSCA orders recall of Cocos Nucifera brand viande de noix de coco, congelée / Frozen coconut meat (250g; Lot GB 2004806; Best before 31/08/2022) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall (France): MARANDIS LECLERC BEZIERS MONTIMARAN recalls CABROL brand Pâté de campagne / Country pâté (Lot 53; Use by 29/03/2022) due to Listeria contamination.

United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: CDC reports that a fourth Cronobacter illness has been confirmed in the Abbott Nutrition powdered infant formula outbreak. The outbreak tally now stands at four Cronobacter infections, two of them fatal, and one Salmonella Newport infection. The most recent confirmed outbreak victim was fed a product that was not included in the original recall notice. In addition, the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR), Bureau for Public Health has confirmed its first case of Salmonella infection in an infant likely related to the recalled powdered formula.

Powdered Infant Formula Safety Recall Update: In addition to the products included in its initial recall notice, Abbott Nutrition recalls Similac PM 60/40 powdered infant formula (Lot code 27032K80 (can) / 27032K800 (case)) due to potential Cronobacter sakazakii contamination. This lot code has been linked to a fatal Cronobacter infection.

Europe

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (France): Santé Publique France is investigating an outbreak of thirteen (13) cases of hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) associated with E. coli infections. Victims range in age from one year to fifteen years. Outbreak cases have been reported since the beginning of February in five regions of metropolitan France, including: Nouvelle Aquitaine (5 cas), Hauts-de-France (3 cas), Ile-de-France (3 cas), Bretagne (1 cas) and Pays de la Loire (1 cas). 

Allergy Alert (Spain): Manufacturer recalls certain ground cumin and cumin seed products due to undeclared sesame. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall (Finland): SOK recalls Kotimaista Miedosti Suolattu Kanan Fileesuikale / Mildly Salted Chicken Fillet Strip (700g; Expiry date 1.3.2022) due to foreign matter (pieces of rubber seal) contamination.

Food Safety Recall (France): Charcuterie Cosme recalls Charcuterie Cosme brand CUISSE PINTADE FORESTIERE / Guinea hen legs (8-pack; Lot #220820; Use by 04/03/2022) due to Salmonella contamination.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: The FDA has opened an investigation into the source of a new outbreak of 13 cases of Listeria monocytogenes illnesses. No product has yet been linked to the outbreak.

Food Safety Recall: Épicerie des Champs Afro (Gatineau, QC) recalls ESTOMAC DE VACHE / Cow stomach (Sold up to 4 February 2022) because the product is unfit for human consumption.

Food Safety Recall: Épicerie du Village recalls Saumon fumé atlantique / Atlantic smoked salmon (Sold up to 9 February 2022) due to absence of mandatory storage temperature instruction on the product label.

Food Safety Recall: Anhydra Inc. recalls Anhydra brand Organic Dehydrated Bananas (125g, 1 kg & 10 kg; Lot 3200; Best before févr-22) due to insect infestation.

Food Safety Recall: JD Sweid Foods (2013) Ltd. recalls Hampton House brand Chicken Nuggets (3 kg; Batch code 3141; Best before 2022 NO 10; UPC 0 66123 52102 0) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Europe

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (Multiple countries): The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and the European Food Safety Agency (EFSA) report an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis infections in Denmark (3), France (216), Netherlands (12), Norway (7), Spain (22) and the United Kingdom (10) during 2021. The outbreak has been linked to eggs exported by Spain.

Allergy Alert (France): AUCHAN recalls AUCHAN MELANGE FORESTIER / Forest mix (450g; Lot 21070751; Best before 26/01/2024) due to possible presence of Boletus luteus mushroom, which could provoke an allergic reaction.

Allergy Alert (Netherlands): Vomar recalls Achterham 1 Ster Beter Leven / 1 star Better Life (200g; Best before 28-2-2022) due to undeclared wheat, mustard and soy.

Allergy Alert (Spain): Manufacturer recalls Pidy brand macarons (480g; Lot 2021369222; Best before 08/01/2022; Product of France, via Belgium) due to undeclared eggs and almonds.
