USA (Update): CDC reports 12 deaths and 38 illnesses in 21 states in a Listeria monocytogenes outbreak among hospital patients and residents of long-term care facilities since 2018.

United States

Allergy Alert: LPK1 recalls thoughtfully handmade just for you Chicken Caesar Wrap with parmesan cheese, lettuce, Caesar dressing (Lot codes LPK1WA046, LPK1WA048, LPK1WA050; Best by 21 FEB, 23 FEB, 25 FEB) due to undeclared fish (anchovies).

Food Safety Recall: Lyons Magnus LLC recalls seventeen varieties of Lyons ReadyCare and Sysco Imperial Frozen Supplemental Shakes (4 oz cartons) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled products have been implicated in an outbreak of listeriosis in long-term care facilties.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA: FDA is investigating an new outbreak of 27 cases of Salmonella Newport infections linked to a not-yet-identified food product.

USA: FDA and CDC have traced an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes in longterm care facilities to Lyons ReadyCare and Sysco Imperial Frozen Supplemental Shakes. The outbreak dates back to 2018 and is ongoing. To date, this outbreak has affected 38 individuals in 21 states. Eleven people have died.

Allergy Alert: ZB Importing LLC recalls six varieties of Ulker Brand snack rolls, biscuits, and wafers due to undeclared wheat, egg and/or milk.

Food Safety Alert (Hong Kong): The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department today (February 18) instructed the trade to suspend the import of Ireland Dooriel Creek raw oysters from production area code MO-AN-DC. The trade should also stop using or selling the product concerned immediately should they possess it. The action was taken following a few food poisoning cases which involved consumption of raw oysters at a restaurant in Tsim Sha Tsui.
