Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA: FDA and CDC are investigating an outbreak of Salmonella Oranienburg illnesses associated with consumption of an imported shelf-stable nut butter cream. Four outbreak cases have been confirmed (3 in Minnesota and 1 in New Jersey), and one person has been hospitalized. The implicated product, Emek-brand Pistachio Cream with a use-by date of October 19, 2026 (TETT: 19/10/26 (DD/MM/YY)) and production code PNO: 241019, is manufactured by Emek Dogal Saglik Urunleri Iklim Gida Insaat San Tic Ltd Sti in Turkey and imported into the United States. No recall notice has been issued.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

CANADA: The Public Health Agency of Canada reports 57 confirmed cases in a Salmonella outbreak that has sent 7 people to hospital. Outbreak cases have been reported in Alberta and Ontario. The outbreak is linked to consumption of Genoa salami. Please see recall notice, below.

USA (Updates): FDA continues to investigate an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis linked to an as-yet-unidentified food, as well as an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes linked to an as-yet-identified food. The case counts in these outbreaks have increased from 31 to 33 cases and from 16 to 17 cases, respectively.
