United States

Allergy Alert: Coborn’s, Inc. recalls American Rye Bread (Expiry September 7 or earlier; UPC 7-33147-20150-3) and Caraway Rye Bread (Expiry September 7 or earlier; UPC 7-33147-20155-8) due to undeclared milk, soy and egg. The recalled products were sold at Coborn’s and Cash Wise Stores in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota; Marketplace Foods stores in Western Wisconsin; and CobornsDelivers in the Twin Cities Metro area.

Outbreak Alert/Food Safety Recall: Bravo Produce Inc. recalls Maradol Papayas grown by Productores y Exportadores de Carica Papaya de Tecomán y Costa Alegre SPR of RL and packed by Frutas Selectas de Tijuana, S. de RL de CV (Distributed within California August 10 to 29, 2017; Lot codes 1222335215, 1222635220, 1222335216, 1223035223, 1223335227, 1223835233, 1222235215, 1222535220, 1222235216, 1222835223, 1223435230, 1222235216, 1222935223, 1222135214, 1222935223, 1222935223, 1222135214, 1222235216, 1222935223, 1223035223, 1222935221, 1223035223 and 1223835233) because FDA found Salmonella in a sample of the product. The recalled papayas were distributed in California. Based on lab, epidemiological and traceback evidence, Maradol papayas imported by Bravo Produce Inc. of San Ysidro, California, are the likely source 14 known cases of Salmonella Anatum illnesses reported in California, Arizona and Colorado. Five people have been hospitalized in this outbreak and one death has been reported.

Food Safety Alert: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture advises consumers to discard pints of chocolate milk from Moo Echo Dairy in Somerset County (sell-by date of September 21, 2017) due to improper pasteurization.

Food Safety Alert: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture advises consumers to discard heavy cream from Oregon Dairy, Inc. in Lancaster County (pints and quarts; sell-by date of September 7, 2017) due to improper pasteurization.

Food Safety Alert: Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture advises consumers to discard heavy cream from The Spring House Dairy in Washington County (plastic pints and plastic half gallons; code 9-03) due to improper pasteurization.

Canada

Allergy Alert: Pain Markouk recalls Pain Markouk brand White Bread and Whole Wheat Bread ( 4 PSC 500 g – 16 oz; all lots sold up to September 7, 2017) due to undeclared sesame seeds, milk and mustard seed.

Food Safety Recall: La Reine Pâtisserie recalls various pastry products (all lots sold up to September 8, 2017), because the items were not produced in a manner that ensures they are safe for consumption. Please refer to the recall notice for additional details.

United States

Outbreak Alert: CDC is investigating a multistate outbreak of 37 human Salmonella infections linked to contact with pet turtles. Outbreak cases have been reported from 13 states; 16 of the 37 victims have been hospitalized. Nearly one-third of the victims are children under 5 years of age.

Outbreak/Food Safety Alert (Update): CDC’s investigation of Salmonella infections linked to consumption of Maradol papayas from Mexico continues to expand with the identification of two more outbreaks. The consolidated number of cases has reached 201 victims in 23 states, with 65 hospitalizations and one death. In addition to Carica de Campeche, two more Mexican farms have been implicated in outbreak cases: Caraveo Produce and El Zapotanito.

Allergy Alert: Wakefern Food Corp. recalls ShopRite brand Semi-Sweet Real Chocolate Chips (24-oz bags; Best if Used By dates of April 11, 2019 and April 12, 2019; UPC 041190 02668) due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was sold in ShopRite, The Fresh Grocer and other retail stores located throughout the Northeast.

Canada

Allergy Alert: Summer Star Trading Co. Ltd. recalls Ziranwei brand dried and preserved products due to undeclared sulphites. Please refer to the recall notice for a detailed list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: The British Columbia Center for Disease Control (BCCDC) warns consumers that Hepatitis A virus has been detected in a sample of Western Family brand fresh pineapple chunks (7-oz ready-to-go cups; Produced August 11, 2017; Best before August 19, 2017; Product of Costa Rica). The recalled product was distributed to 38 Save-On-Foods, Overwaitea Foods and PriceSmart Foods stores in BC. Food Safety Recall (New Zealand): Go Farming Ltd recalls Go 2 Raw Milk brand raw (unpasteurised) drinking milk (1L glass bottles; Batch 32, 33, and 34; Use by 18 August 2017, 20 August 2017, and 21 August 2017) due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product is sold online and is collected at the farm or delivered within the Southland and Queenstown regions.

The recalled product was shipped to retail locations in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Allergy Alert: Rajbhog Distributors GA. Inc. recalls Jalebi (Code number-P026 and P027) because the packets may contain undeclared almond pieces. The recalled product was distributed to the grocery stores located in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida, Mississippi, and Tennessee.

Allergy Alert: Dedinas Franzak Enterprises recalls several brands of butter flavored popcorn because the products may contain undeclared milk. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products and the states in which they were distributed.

Allergy Alert: Blossom Foods, LLC (Oakland, CA) recalls approximately 15,092 pounds of beef, chicken, and pork products due to undeclared soy and wheat. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were distributed in California and Ohio.

Pharmaceutical Product Safety Recall: Mid Valley Pharmaceutical recalls Doctor Manzanilla Allergy & Decongestant Relief syrup (4 FL OZ. (118 ml) bottle; Lot #23221701; Expiry 05/19; UPC 7 62558 00204 1) and Doctor Manzanilla Cough & Cold syrup (4 FL OZ. (118 ml) bottle; Lot #23221701; Expiry 05/19; UPC 7 62558 00316 1) due to possible contamination with Burkholderia cepacia. The recalled products were distributed in the Rio Grande Valley, Texas to retailers and pharmacies.

Pharmaceutical Product Safety Recall: Lucky Mart Inc. recalls Piyanping Anti-Itch Lotion (0.67 oz (20g) tube in a paper carton. Lots C14005 (Exp. 03/2017), C16001 (Exp. 12/2018), C16002 (Exp. 12/2018)) due to inclusion of an incorrect active ingredient.
