FRANCE: Two cases of botulism in Brittany, France, linked to contaminated tortillas made in Spain. Institut Pasteur’s National Reference Center for Botulism confirmed the presence of Clostridium botulinum bacteria in leftover tortilla samples consumed by one of the affected patients, establishing a definitive epidemiological link.

Food Safety Recall: Georgia Nut Company recalls specific varieties of Tru Fru Freeze Dried products due to foreign matter contamination (pieces of metal).

Food Safety Recall: The Hillshire Brands Company recalls 58,000,000 pounds of corn dog and sausage on a stick products due to possible foreign matter contamination (wood embedded in the batter.

Food Safety Alert: FDA advises consumers, retailers and distributors not to eat, sell, or serve Black Sheep Egg Company branded Free Range Large Grade A Brown Eggs (12-count & 18-count; Best by 8/22/2025 through 10/31/2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination. Environmental samples collected during the course of an inspection yielded 40 environmental samples positive for Salmonella including seven different strains of Salmonella. The company has initiated a recall.

Canada

Food Safety Recall: Marché Madina (Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac, QC) recalls Pistaches / Pistachios (240g; Sold up to 25 September 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Import Advisory: CFIA has implemented a temporary restriction on imports of pistachios and pistachio-containing products from Iran as a precautionary measure to protect Canadians from the risk of Salmonella infection. All importers of pistachios and pistachio-containing products will be required to show proof that these products do not originate from Iran in order to be accepted into Canada

USA (Update): FDA, CDC, and FSIS continue to investigate an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes illnesses linked to FreshRealm Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Meals. Twenty confirmed outbreak cases have been identified; 19 of the 20 victims required hospitalization. The implicated products were distributed nationwide and are sold in the refrigerated section at Walmart and Kroger stores under the Marketside and Home Chef brand names, respectively.

Allergy Alert: Gansu Zhaofeng Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. (Hui County Industrial Concentration Zone, Longnan City, Gansu Province) recalls G&L FOOD Dried Bean Curd (500g/bag; Expiration dates 25/10/2025,11/06/2026 and 20/06/2026; UPC 6976325560236) due to undeclared wheat.

Public Health Alert Update: FSIS advises the public not to consume MARKETSIDE LINGUINE WITH BEEF MEATBALLS & MARINARA SAUCE (12-oz. clear plastic tray; Best if used by SEP 22, 2025; SEP 24, 2025; SEP 25, 2025; SEP 29, 2025; SEP 30, 2025; and OCT 01, 2025; Est No. EST. 50784” or “EST. 47718” inside the USDA mark of inspection) and TRADER JOE’S CAJUN STYLE BLACKENED CHICKEN BREAST FETTUCINE ALFREDO (16 oz clear plastic tray; Best if used by 9/20/2025, 9/24/2025, or 9/27/2025; Est No. P- 45288” inside the USDA mark of inspection) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
