United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: CDC reports 28 cases of Salmonella Enteritidis illnesses in 8 states linked to raw frozen breaded stuffed chicken products. Eleven people have been hospitalized. On August 9th, Serenade Foods recalled approximately 59,251 pounds of frozen raw breaded stuffed chicken that bear establishment number “P-2375” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The recalled products may not account for all of the illnesses in this outbreak.

Allergy Alert: Jimmy’s Cookies LLC  recalls Marketside Chocolate Candy Cookie Cake (Lot #1133; UPC 0074736651210) due to undeclared peanuts.

Allergy Alert: Frito-Lay recalls Wavy Lay’s Original Potato Chips (7 3/4 oz.; “Guaranteed Fresh” date of 02 Nov 2021 and Manufacturing Code 1712 17944 85 21:30 OR “Guaranteed Fresh” date of 19 Oct 2021 and Manufacturing Code 1713 20044 18 03:37) due to undeclared milk.

Allergy Alert: RMH Foods, LLC recalls Gordon Choice® Deli Style Tuna and Chicken Salads (4 lb; Use by 10/16/2021) due to undeclared wheat and tuna.

Food Safety Recall Update: Avanti Frozen Foods Pvt. Ltd recalls certain consignments of various sizes of frozen cooked, peeled, deveined, shrimp (with some packaged with cocktail sauce) sold in various unit sizes, due to potential Salmonella contamination. United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: New cases have been reported in a three-state outbreak of Salmonella Weltevreden illnesses that was thought to be over. The illnesses are linked to consumption of frozen cooked shrimp manufactured by Avanti Frozen Foods of India. At least one of the new cases was associated with consumption of shrimp that was not part of the list of recalled products. FDA has requested a voluntary recall of additional products, bu the company has not yet complied.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: FDA is working with CDC to investigate two separate outbreaks of Cyclospora illnesses. The agency has not yet identified a product linked to either outbreak.

Food Safety Recall: Ballreich Snack Food Co. recalls BAR-B-Q seasoned Potato Chips (1.5oz, 2.75oz, and 7oz bags; Sell by 10/18/21, 10/25/21 & 11/01/21) due to potential Salmonella contamination.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA issues Warning Letter to Acme Smoked Fish Corp. after finding Salmonella in its ready-to-eat, cold-smoked tuna product, Listeria monocytogenes in environmental swab samples from various areas in the production facility, and serious violations of FDA food safety regulations.

Canada

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: FSIS reports that frozen, raw, breaded and pre-browned stuffed chicken products from Serenade Foods have been linked to an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis that was reported by CDC in June 2021. The outbreak strain has been recovered from unopened intact packages of raw, frozen, breaded chicken stuffed with broccoli and cheese collected from the home of an outbreak victim.

Food Safety Recall: Able Groupe recalls certain products labeled as Infant Formula due to insuffient levels of iron and lack of English-language mandatory label information. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.
