OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (FRANCE):Health authorities are investigating an outbreak of five serious cases of Listeria monocytogenes linked to consumption of multiple vegetarian foods produced by JAY&JOY. Four of the outbreak victims are pregnant women who delivered prematurely. An investigation of the production facility has resulted in suspension of operations and sale of all products manufactured at the facility. The company has recalled all outstanding inventory in distribution.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (Update): FDA has recovered from a sample of Utopia brand Enoki Mushrooms a strain of Listeria monocytogenes that is a genetic match for the strain of Listeria monocytogenes that was recovered from patients in an outbreak first reported last fall by the CDC. The outbreak has affected three individuals, one each in California, Nevada and Michigan. All three outbreak victims have been hospitalized.
