Outbreak/Illness Investigations

CANADA (BC): The BC Centre for Disease Control is tracking an outbreak of norovirus-like gastrointestinal illness in three regions of the province. The 64 cases reported so far have been linked to eating raw oysters from restaurants and retail locations.

USA (Update): CDC reports that the Salmonella Typhimurium outbreak linked to cucumbers imported from Mexico has grown to 100 confirmed cases in 23 states. Twenty-five people have been hospitalized.

Allergy Alert: Orgain recalls 30g Protein Organic Plant Based Powder – Chocolate (2.01 lb; Lot 4172-02-P; Expiration date June 20, 2026) due to undeclared peanuts.

Allergy Alert: Ralph’s Packing Company recalls approximately 3,132 pounds of ready-to-eat pork and beef bologna products due to undeclared milk. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Allergy Alert: Jose Madrid Salsa recalls Chipotle Con Queso Salsa (13 oz; Lots 6012201 102327, 6012201 103027, & 6012201 111227; UPC 093662452935) due to undeclared Yellow 5 and Yellow 6.

Allergy Alert: Lidl US recalls Taste of Deutschland Buttered Vegetables (10.5 oz box; All lots; UPC 4 056489 122876) due to undeclared milk.

Food Safety Recall: Field Fresh Foods, Inc. recalls Fresh Creative Foods, raw cucumber diced, with skin (Code F2315) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: NAIL Factory recalls approximately 1,635 pounds of ineligible frozen Siluriformes fish products (product of Vietnam). Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Indianapolis Fruit Company, Inc recalls multiple products containing cucumbers due to possible Salmonella contamination. Please refer to the Enforcement Report for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Impero Foods & Meats, Inc. recalls approximately 7,485 pounds of raw pork sausage products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Pet Food Safety Recall: Smallbatch Pets LLC recalls Smallbatch Dog Chicken Recipe Patties (6 lbs and bulk; Lot 24326 CPATL; Best by 21 FEB 2026) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The product was supplied to a single distributor in Wisconsin. According to information supplied by the company, the affected product was never released to consumers and has been completely destroyed.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA: The California Department of Public Health has released a final report on its investigation of a multijurisdictional outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium associated with raw (unpasteurized) milk. Overall, 171 outbreak-associated cases were confirmed, the majority among children. The source of the outbreak was identified as Raw Farm brand raw milk, based on epidemiologic, laboratory and traceback investigations. Cases were confirmed in California, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington. Although illness onset dates ranged from September 21, 2023 through March 11, 2024, 65% of the cases occurred in October 2023. Nearly 40% of the victims were under five years old. Twenty-two of the affected individuals required hospitalization.

Food Safety Recall: Dairyland Produce, LLC, dba Hardie’s Fresh Foods recalls CUCUMBER SELECT (6 ct; Lot codes X2377074, X2379602, X2381000, X2381080, X2383400, X2384557, and X2384587) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recalled cucumbers were distributed to Costco locations in Houston, TX and Dallas, TX.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

NORWAY: The National Institute of Public Health is investigating an outbreak of 23 cases of Salmonella Newport infections believed to be linked to consumption of organic alfalfa sprouts.

USA: FDA and CDC are investigating an outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium infections linked to American/slicer cucumbers grown by Agrotato, S.A. de C.V. in Sonora, Mexico. The outbreak has affected 68 people in 19 states. Eighteen people have been hospitalized. There have been no deaths reported so far.

Food Safety Recall: 4Earth Farms recalls multiple brands of Organic Vegetable Medley, Conventional Vegetable Medley, and Organic Whole Carrots due to possible E. coli O121:H19 contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Gracie’s Kitchens recalls all ready-to-eat fruit and vegetable products manufactured at the facility from 11/4-11/13/24 due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: SunFed Produce, LLC recalls all sizes of whole fresh American cucumbers packaged in bulk cardboard containers labeled with the “SunFed” label or in a generic white box or black plastic crate with a sticker that provides the implicated grower’s name, “Agrotato, S.A. de C.V.,” due to potential Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Curio Spice Co. recalls Curio Spice Co. brand Grains of Paradise (Korerima) (1.25 oz jar; Batch No. PKRRM02202024; Better by 02/20/2027; UPC 672975171032) due to possible mold contamination.

Food Safety Recall: 1728435 Ontario Inc. recalls O’Ya hoho brand Enoki mushrooms (200g; Batch code 240907; UPC 8 57588 00231 1) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall Update: Grimmway Farms recalls multiple brands of organic carrots due to potential for E. coli O121 contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for an updated list of affected products.

Food Safety Advisory: CFIA warns consumers that SunFed Produce, LLC has recalled all sizes of whole fresh American cucumbers packaged in bulk cardboard containers labeled with the “SunFed” label or in a white box or black plastic crate with a sticker that provides the implicated grower’s name, “Agrotato, S.A. de C.V.” due to potential Salmonella contamination. These cucumbers have been linked to an outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium illnesses in the USA. Some of the recalled products were distributed in Canada.

Food Safety Recall: Fromagerie des Grondines (Deschambault-Grondines, QC) recalls Festin or Le Festin brand cheese (Lot 301024; Sold up to 27 November 2024) because the product was conditions that represent a risk to consumers.

Food Safety Recall: Agrigourmet (Montréal, QC) recalls TERRINE DE LAPIN / Rabbit terrine (250 ml; Sold up to 25 November 2024) due to potential for growth of Clostridium botulinum.
