Allergy Alert: Cedar’s Mediterranean Foods recalls Cedar’s Chickpea Salad (8 oz. plastic container; Sell by dates from 9/23/18 – 11/9/18; UPC 044115337767) due to undeclared edamame (soy). The recalled product was distributed to retailers in AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, TX, UT, VT, and WI.

Food Safety Recall: Bakkavor Foods USA, Inc. recalls approximately 795,261 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products that contain an onion ingredient that may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were shipped to retail locations nationwide.

Food Safety Recall: SK Food Group recalls approximately 174,207 pounds of chicken wrap products that contain vegetables that may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were shipped directly to consumers through catalog sales in California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Texas.

Food Safety Recall: Buddy’s Kitchen, Inc recalls approximately 212,746 pounds of ready-to-eat pork and chicken products that contain vegetables that may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were shipped to institutional locations in Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri and New Jersey.

Food Safety Recall: GHSW, LLC recalls approximately 1,786 pounds of ready-to-eat salad with chicken products that contain a corn ingredient that may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were shipped to retail locations in Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.

Food Safety Recall: Ruiz Food Products, Inc. recalls approximately 2,490,593 pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry taquitos that may be adulterated with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. Food Safety Recall: Caito Foods, LLC recalls approximately 1,532 pounds of ready-to-eat salad and bowl products made with chicken that contain a corn ingredient that may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were shipped to retail locations in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota and Missouri.

Food Safety Recall: Envolve Foods recalls approximately 292,764 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken and beef products that contain a vegetable ingredient that may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes. Food Safety Recall: Hy-Vee, Inc. recalls six of its meat and potato products across its eight-state region due to possible contamination with Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes after Hy-Vee’s supplier, McCain Foods, announced it was recalling its caramelized mushrooms and fire-roasted tomatoes, which are ingredients that are used in six Hy-Vee products.

Food Safety Recall (Update): Working Cow Homemade, Inc. recalls all ice cream manufactured from August 29, 2017 – October 11, 2018, because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Working Cow customers include ice cream parlors, independent living facilities and restaurants throughout the state of Florida.

Canada

OUTBREAK ALERT: The Public Health Agency of Canada is investigating an outbreak of Salmonella Infantis infections that appear to be associated with consumption of fresh cucumbers. As of October 19th, federal and provincial health agencies have confirmed 45 cases in five provinces: British Columbia (37), Alberta (5), Saskatchewan (1), Manitoba (1), and Quebec (1). The Quebec victim reported having traveled to British Columbia before becoming ill.

Allergy Alert: Uhrenholt Group/Richstone Fine Foods recalls Emborg brand Pizza Style Dairy Free Shreds (200g; Best Before: 2019/FE/10; UPC 5 704025 031869) due to undeclared milk. The recalled product was distributed to retailers in Alberta , British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan.

Allergy Alert: Nora’s Non-Dairy Ltd. recalls certain Nora’s brand Dairy-Free Frozen Desserts due to undeclared milk. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were distributed to retailers in Alberta and British Columbia.

Allergy Alert: Salamico Saint-Eustache (Saint-Eustache, QC) recalls various fruit pies due to undecalred milk, sulfites and soy. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Boulangerie Mariano (Montreal, QC) recalls various bread loaves due to foreign matter (wood splinters) contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Dépanneur Lunch Express (Saint-Zénon, QC) recalls Spaghetti Sauce with spices (250 mL glass jar; Lots dated 26 September 2018 and 5 October 2018) as the product was not prepared and packaged in such a way as to ensure its safety.

Food Safety Recall: Charcuterie Varsovie inc. (Montreal, QC) recalls Smoked Mackerel (all product sold up to October 18, 2018) as the product was not prepared and packaged in such a way as to ensure its safety.

Europe

OUTBREAK ALERT (UK): Food Standards Agency is reporting a rise in the incidence of a particular strain of Salmonella Typhimurium infections linked to raw meat, with 165 new cases reported sincle June 2018. Consumers are reminded to take proper care when storing, handling, and cooking raw meat, including lamb and mutton.

Allergy Alert (Denmark): Hanegal A / S recalls Bio Lever Organic Svine/Okse Leverpostej (200g; Best before date 09/12/2018 (note – should be 02/11/2018)) due to undeclared lactose-free milk and mustard flour.

Allergy Alert (Luxembourg): La Provençale recalls various pâtés due to undeclared egg. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): Bleuzé Interfood recalls Les Mouettes d’Arvor brand Sardines de saison à l’huile d’olive Millésime 2018 (115g can; Expiry end 2028) due to risk of delamination of can lining.

Allergy Alert (Australia): John’s Rice Noodle Manufacturing Co recalls John’s Rice Noodle Banh Pho (1kg; Use By 20/11/18) due to undeclared gluten.

Food Safety Recall (New Zealand): Pak’n Save Botany recalls Pak’n Save brand minced meats and all serve over meat counter minced meats (Best Before 20.10.18) due to contamination with foreign matter (soft blue plastic).

United States

Outbreak Alert: CDC is investigating a 20-state outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium infections linked to consumption of kratom products. Twenty-eight cases have been reported, with 11 people hospitalized. Also known as Thang, Kakuam, Thom, Ketom, and Biak, Kratom is a plant consumed for its stimulant effects and as an opioid substitute according to CDC. Eight of eleven people interviewed to date reported having consume kratom in pills, powder or tea. No common brand or supplier has been identified.

Food Safety Recall / Outbreak Alert: Triple T Specialty Meats, Inc recalls approximately 20,630 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken salad products that may be contaminated with Salmonella Typhimurium. The recalled items were shipped to Fareway grocery stores in Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, and South Dakota. Iowa Department of Public Health has linked consumption of the product to at least 37 confirmed cases of Salmonella Typhimurium infections in the state.

Allergy Alert: Sunneen Health Foods recalls Whole Foods Market Vegan Buffalo Chicken Bites (9-oz. containers; Expiry 2/27/2018; UPC 636910500059) due to undeclared pecans. The recalled product was sold at 13 Whole Foods Market locations in New York and New Jersey. Please refer to the recall notice for the addresses of the 13 locations.

Allergy Alert: A & A Finest recalls PORK & SHRIMP SUI-MAI frozen, ready-to-cook pork and shrimp dumpling items (200 pieces/case; packaging dates 05/02/17, 06/23/17, 07/26/17, 11/29/17 and 12/06/17) due to undeclared egg. The recalled product was shipped to hotel restaurants in New York.

Allergy Alert: Night Hawk Frozen Foods, Inc. recalls NIGHT HAWK BEEF PATTY ‘N GRAVY, CHARBROILED BEEF PATTY and GRAVY, POTATO ROUNDS and SWEET CORN (8.75-oz cartons; produced on Nov. 8, 2017) due to undeclared milk. The recalled products were shipped to retail locations in Louisiana and Texas.

Allergy Alert: Market of Choice recalls Sezam Kale Salad due to undeclared egg. The recalled product was sold in the Deli cases between February 14, 2018 and February 20, 2018 at several Market of Choice retail stores in Oregon. Please refer to the recall notice for a list of affected stores.

Canada

Allergy Alert (Update): Industry recalls Lotte brand Kancho Choco Biscuit (95g and 168g; All lots) due to undeclared peanuts. The recalled products were sold by retailers in Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec, and may have been sold nationwide.

Allergy Alert: Bickerstaffe Farms & Nurseries Ltd. recalls various The Spice Barn spice blends due to undeclared mustard. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were sold by retailers in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Food Safety Recall: Scott Bathgate Ltd. recalls Nutty Club brand Sliced Brazils (100g; All units sold up to and including February 16, 2018; UPC 0 61966 00756 4) due to aflatoxin contamination. The recalled product was sold by retailers in  Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, and Saskatchewan.

Food Safety Recall: Fondation B’Nai Levy (Boisbriand, QC) recalls Turkey Pastrami and Beef Salami delicatessen products (variable weights; all products sold up to and including 20 February, 2018) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Épicerie Chiasson inc. recalls Morue Fumée / Smoked Cod and Turbot Fumé / Smoked Turbot (variable weights; all products sold up to and including 20 February, 2018) because they were not processed in a manner that would ensure safety for human consumption.

Food Safety Recall: Ferme Pré rieur inc. recalls HUILE DE TOURNESOL MI-OLÉIQUE / Mixed Sunflower and Olive Oils (1L; Lots 1620-3, 1620-4 and 1620-5) because the product was not processed in a manner that would ensure safety for human consumption.

  • Food Safety Recall: Rich’s Products recalls All Natural Ancient Grain Bread Dough (13.8 oz; UPC 49800 08712; Lot Nos. 77002209 through 77003302) due to possible presence of metal mesh fragments.
  • Food Safety Recall: Price Chopper recalls Price Chopper Fresh Bakery items containing raisins (purchased between December 14, 2012 and February 8, 2013), due to the presence of naturally occurring foreign matter in the raisins.   • Food Recall: Food City alerts consumers to a recall of Food Club Pineapple Tidbit Cups (4/4oz). Consumers may contact the manufacturer at 1-888-423-0139 for more details.
  • Outbreak Alert Update: CDC reports that the outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium infections linked to ground beef now includes a total of 18 persons from Arizona (1), Iowa (1), Illinois (2), Michigan (9) and Wisconsin (5). Seven people have been hospitalized; there are no fatalities.

Canada

  • Allergy Alert: Something Special Deli-Foods Ltd. recalls Something Special Gourmet Antipasto Vegetarian Tangy Vegetables (250g; UPC 0 58353 20505 4; Best before 16.JAN.2015; Code 2A3016), due to undeclared fish. The recalled product was shipped to warehouses in British Columbia and Ontario.
  • Food Recall: Farm Boy Inc. recalls Farm Boy Leek & Potato Soup (946 mL; Best before JAN. 31) due to contamination with ‘non-harmful’ extraneous material.

Europe

  • Food Safety Recall (France): La société Candessoussens François recalls Maison Lasserre meat-based canned foods, including rillettes de canard, gésiers and foie gras (Produced on or after July 1, 2012), due to inadequate product stability. The recalled products were supplied to local markets (Peyrehorade, Hagetmau) in Landes.
  • Outbreak Alert Update (Norway): Mattilsynet reports that the source of the outbreak strain of Salmonella Mikawashima, which infected 13 people in nine different regions in November 2012, was never found.
