FOOD SAFETY ALERT – UPDATE: FDA advises restaurants and retailers not to serve or sell and consumers not to eat certain raw oysters from Dai One Food Co., Ltd., and Central Fisheries Co., Ltd., Republic of Korea, due to potential Norovirus contamination. Please refer to the FDA advisory for details on the affected products. The oysters have been implicated in five cases of Norovirus gastroenteritis among restaurant patients in Hawaii.

Food Safety Recall Update: Cricket Creek Farm expands earlier recall to include an additional product because of potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination and because pasteurization records did not illustrate the heating element reached required temperature. OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (NORWAY): The Norwegian Institute of Public Health has detected an outbreak of six cases of E. coli in individuals living in various parts of the country. The cases were reported between October 2022 and May 2023.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: FDA is working to identify the source of a new outbreak of Salmonella Paratyphi B var. L(+) tartrate+ that has caused 31 confirmed illnesses to date, and is also investigating an new outbreak of 28 cases of Cyclospora cayetanensis for which no food source has yet been identified.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: CDC, FDA and various state agencies continue to investigate a three-state outbreak of nine cases of Hepatitis A associated with frozen strawberries imported into the United States from Baja California, Mexico. Three of the victims have been hospitalized.

OUTBREAK ALERT / FOOD SAFETY ADVISORY: FDA advises restaurants and retailers not to serve or sell and consumers not to eat certain raw oysters from Dai One Food Co., Ltd, Republic of Korea due to potential Norovirus contamination. Five cases of Norovirus gastroenteritis potentially linked to the oysters have been reported in Hawaii.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: The FDA has determined that the frozen organic strawberries linked to a current outbreak of Hepatitis A virus infections in the state of Washington originated on certain farms in Baja California (Mexico). The outbreak strain is identical to the strain of Hepatitis A that was responsible for a 2022 outbreak, that was linked to fresh organic strawberries grown in Baja California.

Allergy Alert: Perfection Bakeries D/B/A Aunt Millie’s recalls Our Family® White Hot Dog Buns (8 ct; Best by 4-9-2023 and earlier; UPC 0-70253-75107-3) due to undeclared sesame.
