Outbreak/Illness Investigations

SINGAPORE: The Communicable Diseases Agency, Singapore Food Agency (SFA), and Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA), are investigating six incidents of gastroenteritis reported at E-Bridge preschools, comprising a total of 185 individuals (173 students and 12 staff). Suspect food was supplied by Middleton International School Pte Ltd, which has had its food business operations suspended by the SFA.

USA (Idaho): Since August 1, 2025, The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare is investigating at least 23 cases of Campylobacterincluding six children under the age of 12, and three cases of Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC) infections linked to consumption of raw milk.

USA (Illinois): The Illinois Department of Public Health reports at least eleven cases of Campylobacter infections likely linked to consumption of raw (unpasteurized) milk. The source of the contaminated milk was not identified in the state’s report.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

ITALY: The Italian Ministry of Health has issued an urgent recall for METRO Chef brand Polpa di Avocado / Avocado pulp following an outbreak of eleven cases of botulism in Sardinia. The cases were all linked to eating food from the same street food vendor during the Fiesta Latina event in Monserrato. An 11-year-old boy was transferred to Gemelli Hospital in Rome and is currently intubated and sedated in the pediatric ICU.

USA (Florida): Florida Department of Health is investigating an outbreak of Campylobacter and E. coli infections linked to unpasteurized, raw milk, according to a report by Food Safety News. Seven people have been hospitalized. The farm supplying the raw milk was not identified.
