United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: FDA, CDC and their state and local partners are investigating an outbreak of 10 cases of E. coli O157:H7 illnesses linked to consumption of RAW FARM- brand Raw Cheddar blocks and shredded cheese products, manufactured by RAW FARM, LLC, of Fresno, CA. Four of the ten confirmed outbreak victims have been hospitalized, one with HUS. Cases have been reported by California (4), Colorado (3), Texas (1), and Utah (2). The implicated raw cheddar cheese products were sold by retailers nationwide, including at Sprouts Farmers Market and Bristol Farms. The manufacturer has agreed to recall certain lots of the products, and FDA is continuing to work with the firm to remove additional product from the market.
