Outbreak/Illness Investigations

FRENCH POLYNESIA (RANGIROA): Eighty cases of food poisoning, including one death, may have been associated with prepared meals sold at a charity fundraising event. Symptoms among cases included nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dehydration, high fever (>38.5°C), and blood in stool or vomit.

USA (Update): CDC reports seven new confirmed outbreak cases of Listeria monocytogenes infections associated with consumption of prepared pasta meals, bringing the official total to 27 cases in 18 states. Six people have died, and 25 of the 27 confirmed victims required hospitalization.

USA: The states of Oregon and Washington report three cases of E. coli O103 linked to consumption of Twin Sisters Creamery aged raw milk cheese. Victims include one child under five years of age and two adults.
