OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: FDA continues to investigate consumer complaints of gastrointestinal illness and abnormal liver function that may be attributable to eating Daily Harvest French Lentil & Leek Crumbles frozen product. FDA has received 329 reports of illness, including 113 hospitalizations.

Allergy Alert: Wilbur’s of Maine Chocolate Confections recalls Milk Chocolate Blueberries (8-oz pouch; Expiry date April 5, 2023; UPC 81321300430) due to undeclared almonds.

Food Safety Recall: Danny’s Sub and Pizza (dba Danny’s Cuban Pizza) recalls approximately 19,275 pounds of frozen meat pizza products that were produced without the benefit of federal inspection. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Lyons Magnus LLC recalls 53 nutritional and beverage products due to the potential for microbial contamination, including from the organism Cronobacter sakazakii. Preliminary root cause analysis shows that the products did not meet commercial sterility specifications. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: The FDA and CDC have completed their investigation into an outbreak of Salmonella Senftenberg illnesses associated with consumption of Jif Peanut Butter products manufactured by The J.M. Smucker Company. The FDA is preparing a report  to discuss findings and provide information to assist in future prevention efforts. The outbreak caused 21 illnesses (including 4 hospitalizations) in 17 states.

Allergy Alert: Wismettac Asian Foods, Inc. recalls Marutomo Dashi Soup Base (17.6 oz pkgs; Distributed between July 1, 2021 and July 22, 2022; UPC 074410374020) due to undeclared wheat and soy.

Canada

Allergy Alert: Vicentina Fine Italian Foods recalls Vicentina Fine Italian Foods brand Meat Lasagna (All units sold up to and including July 22, 2022) due to undeclared cashew.

Food Safety Recall: Nita Tout Garni (Montréal, QC) recalls Brandade de morue / Brandade of cod (Sold up to 22 July 2022) due to possible food safety hazard.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (Denmark): The Statens Serum Institut is working together with the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration and the Norwegian Food Institute to identify the source of a Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak that has infected 16 individuals in four regions of the country since the end of March 2022.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (France): An unspecified number of cases of pediatric hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) in PACA et OCCITANIE have been linked to consumption of products from la ferme de l’Aupillon. See recall notice below.

United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs reports that lab analyses recovered Listeria monocytogenes from almost all of the environmental and ice cream product samples taken from the Big Olaf Creamery production plant located in Sarasota, Florida. According to the CDC, 23 illnesses, 22 hospitalizations, one death and one fetal loss have been linked to consumption of ice cream products from this manufacturing location.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: The FDA is investigating ~277 Adverse Event Reports that may be linked to consumption of Daily Harvest French Lentil & Leek Crumbles frozen product. Ninety-six people have been hospitalized with gastrointestinal illness and/or abnormal liver function. Reports have been received from consumers in 34 US states. The manufacturer initiated a product recall on June 23rd, and the investigation is ongoing.

Allergy Alert and Food Safety Recall: Ready Dough Pizza Inc. recalls PIZZA CUBANA CUBAN STYLE PEPPERONI PIZZA (14 oz box; produced from Jan. 12, 2022, through July 13, 2022) because the products were produced without the benefit of federal inspection and also contain undeclared milk, wheat, and soybeans.

Food Safety Recall: BrandStorm Inc. recalls Organic Freeze-Dried Blueberry (1.2 oz pouches; Lots 2021363-1 & 2022026-1; Best by 12/2024 & 01/2025, respectively; UPC 812907011160) due to the potential presence of lead above the FDA’s recommended limits.

Canada

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: The Public Health Agency of Canada is now investigating 155 cases of non-travel related Cyclospora infections in British Columbia (2), Ontario (139) and Québec (14). Eight people have been hospitalized. No specific source of the infections has been identified.

Allergy Alert: Xinpangao International Trade Corporation recalls Stuffed Fish Ball (340g; Expiry 07/02/2024; UPC 6 920732 127896) due to undeclared egg.
