Outbreak/Illness Investigations

CÔTE D’IVOIRE: The Ministry of Health reports an incident of food poisoning in Ande that has killed nine out of 97 cases. Eight of the deaths involve children. The incident is tied to consumption of porridge, but the causative agent has not yet been determined.

FRANCE (Update): The Occitanie Regional Health Agency reports more than 400 cases of Norovirus at the Jules Verne Middle School, affecting students, staff, and family members. The outbreak resulted in 65 emergency department visits.

VIETNAM: Two separate incidents of food poisoning, each in a different province, linked to consumption of bread are under investigation. The incidents have resulted in 165 hospitalizations out of more than 200 cases.

Allergy Alert: The James Skinner LLC recalls Publix Maple Walnut Coffee Cake (14 oz; Lot code 5309; Date of manufacture 11/5/25) due to undeclared walnuts.

Food Safety Recall: The New York Milk Bank, Inc. recalls Pasteurized Donor Human Milk (4 ounce/120 ml clear plastic bottles; Batch no. 14559-01; Expiration date 5/12/26) due to contamination with a foreign object.

INTERNATIONAL: CDC Vessel Sanitation Program reports a Norovirus outbreak aboard the cruise ship AIDAdiva during the period November 10, 2025–December 16, 2025. The outbreak caused 95 illnesses among passengers and an additional 6 illnesses among crew members. The cruise began in Hamburg, Germany, and visited 55 ports in 27 countries across four continents, including England, the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, California, and Hawaii.

SWEDEN (Update): Public health authorities report that the Salmonella Enteritidis outbreak associated with consumption of eggs has grown to include 48 confirmed cases from 11 regions of the country. Genetic comparisons of isolates from disease cases with isolates from the laying hen farm where Salmonella infection was found in August have now shown that it is the same variant of Salmonella.

USA: FDA is investigating a new outbreak of 30 Salmonella LomaLinda infections linked to an as-yet-unidentified food.
