Allergy Alert: The Salsa Texan recalls all regular and burrito sized packages of tortillas labeled as Coconut Flour Tortillas and Blended Flour Tortillas because they may contain undeclared wheat and milk. Please refer to the recall notice for distribution details.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (France): Santé Publique France reports 53 confirmed cases of haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) linked to consumption of Buitoni Fraîch’Up frozen pizzas. An additional 26 cases are under investigation.

Allergy Alert (Austria): Gittis Naturprodukte GmbH recalls Zurück zum Ursprung BIO-Reisbrei / Organic rice porridge (250g; Best before 08.09.2022) due to undeclared gluten.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: PHAC reports 328 cases of norovirus and gastrointestinal illness linked to consumption of British Columbia oysters as of April 8, 2022. Outbreak cases have been confirmed in British Columbia (293), Alberta (3), Saskatchewan (1), Manitoba (15) and Ontario (16).

Food Safety Recall: Épices Kay inc (Montréal, QC) recalls CHIKTAY (500 ml; Sold up to 6 April 2022) due to absence of mandatory storage temperature labeling.

Europe

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (France): Santé Publique France reports 50 confirmed cases of haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) secondary to shigatoxin-producing E. coli infections linked to consumption of Buitoni Fraîch’Up frozen pizza. Forty-eight of the fifty HUS victims are children, two of whom have died. The two adult HUS patients are both more than 90 years of age. An additional 25 cases are under investigation.

Allergy Alert (Belgium): AFSCA orders recall of Marmara brand Kuru Kayisi dried apricots (Lot 340075314/1-11-247; Best before 30/09/2022) due to undeclared sulphites.

Allergy Alert (Belgium): Spar recalls Cordon-bleus au chorizo (Sold from 29/3/2022 to 4/4/2022, inclusive) due to undeclared gluten and soy.

Allergy Alert (Finland): Atria Suomi Oy recalls Atria Ateriasalaatti Kana-Texmex / Chicken salad (270g; Best before 15.4.2022) due to undeclared wheat.

Allergy Alert: The Salsa Texan recalls Coconut Flour Tortillas with “Gluten Free” on the package label due to undeclared wheat. No lot code or expiration date information was provided in the recall notice. The recalled tortillas were distributed nationwide through the mail, following orders made via the social media platforms, FaceBook and Instagram. The tortillas also were sold at various Farmers Markets in Texas the months of August and September 2021. 

Food Safety Recall: Continental Mills recalls Kroger Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix (2 lb; Lots KX2063 and KX2064; Best by 09/01/2023 and 09/02/2023) due to foreign matter (fragments from a cable used to clear the processing line) contamination.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE): Santé Publique France has established a possible link between an outbreak of 27 serious E. coli infections leading to HUS and the consumption of Buitoni Fraîch’Up frozen pizzas. Two children have died so far during the course of this outbreak. Consumers are urged to not purchase or serve the implicated pizzas and to destroy any of the product that may be in their freezers.
