Pet Food Safety Recall: Nestle Purina PetCare Company recalls Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets EN Gastroenteric Low Fat (PPVD EN Low Fat) prescription wet dog food (13.4 oz cans; Production code 22581159 L4TR6; Best Before Sept 2024; UPC 38100 17599) due to a labeling error. For a brief period on September 15, 2022, cans of a different complete and balanced adult dog food, Purina ONE True Instinct Tender Cuts In Gravy With Real Turkey & Venison wet dog food, were labeled as PPVD EN Low Fat in one of the company’s factories. The affected product was available by prescription only and distributed through veterinary clinics and other retailers with the ability to validate a prescription.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: CDC and FDA supply an expanded list of retail establishments that may have received recalled products associated with a Listeria monocytogenes outbreak linked to brie and camembert soft cheeses.

Allergy Alert: Cedar Creek Popcorn recalls Old-Fashioned Caramel Holiday Popcorn Box (18 oz; All lots and dates of manufacture; UPC 025606000612) due to undeclared gluten.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Bakkover Foods USA Inc. that an inspection of the company’s ready-to-eat (RTE) dips, soups, salad bases, burritos, entrée style meals, and seafood products found Listeria monocytogenes in environmental samples collected during the inspection and significant violations of Current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis, and Risk-Based Preventive Controls for Human Food, and Seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations.

Europe

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (Denmark): The Statens Serum Institut is investigating an outbreak of 15 cases of Salmonella Typhimurium infections that occurred between August 15, 2022 and September 27, 2022. The outbreak is believed to be food-related, and patient interviews are in progress.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): FSAI issues allergy alert for Baxter & Greene Beef Lasagne (400g & 800g; All batch codes and best before dates) due to undeclared wheat, milk, egg and celery.
