OUTBREAK ALERT: CDC, FDA and agencies in several states are investigating a deadly outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections linked to enoki mushrooms imported from the Republic of Korea. Thirty-six cases have been confirmed in 17 states across the USA, and four people have died.

Allergy Alert: Meijer recalls Fresh from Meijer – Mixed Nuts with Peanuts & Sea Salt (16 oz; Sell by 7-16-2020, 9-5-2020, 10-15-2020) due to undeclared Brazil nuts.

Allergy Alert: Pero Family Farms Food Company, LLC recalls Zucchini Spiral Pesto Side Dish Kit (11 oz; Run number code 1196272F; Use by 03/20/2020) due to undeclared egg and milk.

Food Safety Recall: Sun Hong Foods, Inc. recalls Sun Hong Foods, Inc Enoki Mushrooms (7.05 oz/200g; All cases; Product of Republic of Korea) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled product was distributed in California, Texas, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Illinois and Florida and was sold mainly in Asian supermarkets. OUTBREAK ALERT (UPDATE): FDA and CDC report that the E. coli O157:H7 outbreak linked to romaine lettuce from the Salinas, California growing region has increased in size to encompass 67 individuals in 19 states. Thirty-nine outbreak victims have been hospitalized. The federal agencies are recommending that consumers avoid all romaine lettuce indicated as having been grown in the Salinas growing region. Products labeled as greenhouse-grown or hydroponic lettuce are not affected by this warning.
