Outbreak/Illness Investigations

BELGIUM (Update): AFSCA reports that the outbreak of shiga toxin-producing E. coli illnesses that ravaged several nursing homes is most likely linked to contaminated raw ground beef. The outbreak caused in excess of 70 illnesses, including 9 deaths.

DENMARK (Update): The Statens Serum Institut reports 7 confirmed outbreak cases of Listeria monocytogenes (4 men and 3 women) linked to consumption of fish cakes. Five of the cases were reported in Zealand and the other two in North Denmark.

United States

Food Safety Recall: Wholesale Produce Supply recalls Fresh Cut Cantaloupe and Harvest Cuts and Fresh and Finest brands of cantaloupe and mixed fruit products containing cantaloupe due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall / Alert: Nate’s Fine Foods, Inc. recalls certain lots of pre-cooked pasta including fettucine, linguine, and farfalle (bowtie), after a sample of linguine pasta collected and tested by FreshRealm tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.  

Food Safety Recall: Albertsons Companies recalls several store-made deli items, supplied by Fresh Creative Foods due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recall was initiated because these products contain a recalled bowtie pasta ingredient manufactured by Nate’s Fine Foods of Roseville, CA.

Canada

Food Safety Recall: Noix Orientale (Laval, QC) recalls Pistaches en vrac / Bulk pistachios (Sold between 20 June and 29 September 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Pâtisserie Villeray (Montréal, QC) recalls Nid d’amour aux pistaches / Pistachio love nest (Sold between 26 March and 24 September 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Sweet Nuts (Saint-Laurent, QC) recalls PISTACHES / Pistachios (Sold between 4 June and 1 August 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Indian Punjabi Bazaar recalls Indian Punjabi Bazaar brand Green Pistachios (200g; Packed on Aug/13/25; UPC 0 201540 307486) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Trade recalls Malabar Choice Peri Peri Murukku (150g; Batch code DFE 09; Best before April 2026; Product of India) due to undeclared milk.

Food Safety Recall (Ireland): Manufacturer recalls Macroom Buffalo Buffaloumi (180g; Batch code 3107; Use by 20.01.26; Product of Ireland) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

BELGIUM (Update): AFSCA reports that the number of nursing home deaths due to E. coli O157 infections has risen to eight (7 in Flanders and one in Wallonia), with a total of 63 cases reported to date. Cases have been confirmed in 8 nursing homes in Flanders. Additional cases are under investigation in 3 nursing homes in Wallonia and one in Brussels.

VIET NAM: Foodborne illness results in more than 150 individuals hospitalized following housewarming party in Gia Lai, Viet Nam. The food was catered by a local vendor.

United States

Allergy Alert: Ice Cream Factory recalls Vanilla G.Nutt ice cream (Pints, quarts & half-gallons; Expiration date March 2027) due to undeclared almonds.

Canada

Allergy Alert:  La Corne d’abondance (L’Ancienne-Lorette, QC) recalls Creton couture (All lots) due to undeclared wheat.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

NORWAY (Update): Norwegian Institute of Public Health reports that the Salmonella outbreak linked to contaminated organic alfalfa sprouts has increased to 49 confirmed cases ranging in age from 7 to 87 years of age. Twenty-four of the victims have been hospitalized. Of the 49 victims, 42 are infected with Salmonella Newport and 7 are infected with Salmonella Typhimurium.

USA: FDA and CDC are investigating a 10-state outbreak of E. coli O157 that has been traced to contaminated iceberg and romaine lettuce blend served at catering events, restaurants, and a school. Sixty-nine people have been confirmed to be infected with the outbreak strain. The impacted product identified to date appears to be past shelf life and no longer on the market.

United States

Allergy Alert: Atkinson Milling Company recalls Hushpuppies (2 lb 8 oz; All Sell By Dates Before 10/16/2026) and Hushpuppies With Onions (1 lb & 2 lb 8 oz; All Sell By Dates Before 7/24/2026 and 11/11/2026) due to undeclared milk.

Food Safety Recall: Fresh Creative Foods recalls Beef & Lamb Gyro Sandwich Express Meal Kits (Use by 12/24/2024 – 1/6/2025; UPC 0-13454-38313-1) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The kits were distributed to Sam’s Club warehouses nationwide.

Food Safety Recall: Supreme Service Solutions LLC recalls multiple vegetable trays and salad items containing cucumbers due to possible Salmonella contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected items, which were distributed in Kroger and King Soopers retail stores located in TX and CO.

Food Safety Recall: Yummi Sushi LLC recalls multiple sushi items containing cucumbers due to possible Salmonella contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected items, which were distributed in Kroger retail stores located in TX.

Food Safety Recall: JFE Franchising, Inc. recalls multiple SNOWFRUIT and SNOWFOX brands of salad items containing cucumbers due to possible Salmonella contamination. Food Safety Recall: F&S Fresh Foods recalls Mediterranean Inspired Party Tray (22 oz; Sell by 11/27/24 to 12/11/24) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Fromagerie des Grondines (Deschambault-Grondines, QC) recalls multiple cheese varieties because the cheese were prepared and packaged under conditions that could render them unsafe to consume. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall Update: Gambles Group of Companies, Koornneef Produce Ltd., Loblaw Companies Limited, Provincial Fruit Co.
