OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (Denmark): The Statens Serum Institut now has confirmed 31 cases of Salmonella Muenchen infections in an outbreak that began in March 2023 and for which the source has yet been identified.

OUTBREAK ALERT (Sweden): Swedish health authorities are reporting a rise in Campylobacter infections in recent weeks. Case reports have doubled from ~30/week to ~60/week. The rise follows a reported increase in Campylobacter in poultry flocks.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: The CDC, together with state and local partners, is investigating an outbreak of Cyclospora illnesses that has affected 210 individuals in 22 states. Thirty outbreak victims have been hospitalized. The illnesses are not travel-related, and their source has not been identified as yet.

Public Health Alert: The FDA is advising consumers not to purchase or eat Everest Garam Masala, Everest Sambhar Masala, and Maggi Masala ae Magic spices with the lot numbers referenced in the Public Health Alert, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. The products were manufactured in India and are not labeled for distribution in the United States.

Food Safety Recall: Panamerican Foods, LLC recalls approximately 4,978 pounds of the pork and beef bean stew products that were imported from an establishment in Brazil that is not eligible to export meat products to the United States. OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: FDA is working to identify the source of a new outbreak of Salmonella Paratyphi B var. L(+) tartrate+ that has caused 31 confirmed illnesses to date, and is also investigating an new outbreak of 28 cases of Cyclospora cayetanensis for which no food source has yet been identified.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: CDC, FDA and various state agencies continue to investigate a three-state outbreak of nine cases of Hepatitis A associated with frozen strawberries imported into the United States from Baja California, Mexico. Three of the victims have been hospitalized.

OUTBREAK ALERT / FOOD SAFETY ADVISORY: FDA advises restaurants and retailers not to serve or sell and consumers not to eat certain raw oysters from Dai One Food Co., Ltd, Republic of Korea due to potential Norovirus contamination. Five cases of Norovirus gastroenteritis potentially linked to the oysters have been reported in Hawaii.
