United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: The CDC, together with federal and state partners, is investigating a Listeria monocytogenes outbreak that has affected at least eleven individuals in 10 states since July 2018, eight of them since October 2022. Ten of the eleven victims required hospitalization. Outbreak victims range in age from 47 to 88 years, with a median age of 73. No food source has yet been identified. The CDC warns that the number of cases may be higher than reported, and that cases may be occurring in states beyond the ten who have reported cases so far.

Public Health Alert: FSIS issues Public Health Alert for Frozen, Not-Ready-To-Eat Signature Select Breakfast Bowl Products due to possible temperature abuse at the distribution center. Please refer to the Alert for a complete list of affected products.

Allergy Alert: FSIS issues Public Health Alert for aprons READY TO COOK MEAL FOR ONE SUN-DRIED TOMATO & CHEESE-STUFFED CHICKEN WITH LEMON-GARLIC POTATOES, raw, ready-to-cook product (12 oz; Use by  02/15/2023) due to undeclared soy and milk.

Allergy Alert: Wismettac Asian Foods, Inc. recalls Shirakiku brand Spice Ichimi Togarashi and Spice Shichimi Togarashi Seasoning products (300g / 10.58 oz; Lot 12262023) due to undeclared sesame seeds.

Food Safety Recall: Ortho Molecular Products has recalled multiple dietary supplement products after a raw material tested positive for Cronobacter sakazakii. The recall was initiated by telephone notification to consignees on January 12, 2023, and was not accompanied with a public notice. The recalled products were distributed nationwide in the United States and exported to Canada.

FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Lyons Magnus, LLC that a May 23 to June 10, 2022 and an August 3 to September 14, 2022 inspection of the company’s aseptic processing facility found identified serious violations of the Emergency Permit Control regulation and the Thermally Processed Low-Acid Foods Packaged in Hermetically Sealed Containers regulation.

Canada

Food Safety Recall: Le Fromage au Village Inc. recalls multiple varieties of FreshFun Fantastic and Le Fromage au Village brands of cheese due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products, which were sold in Ontario, Quebec, and online and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories.

Food Safety Recall: Wakefield Bakery (La Pêche, QC) recalls Sauce Brandy (250 ml; Sold up to 13 February 2023) because the conditions under which the product was manufactured and packaged may represent a food safety hazard.

Food Safety Recall: Groupe d’agences qualité (Montréal, QC) recalls all Quality Nuts & Dried Fruits products prepared and sold by Quality Agency Group because the conditions under which these foods were prepared, stored and packaged represent a food safety hazard.

Food Safety Recall: Poissonnerie Ô inc. recalls Gravlax de truite au rhum Rosemont et ses arômes / Trout gravlax with Rosemont rum flavoring (150g; Best before 2023.FE.14) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall: 1001 Fondues recalls 1001 Fondues brand La Fondue au Village cheese product (125g & 350g; UPC 628110608086 & 628110608079, respectively; Multiple lot codes and Best before dates) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
