Outbreak/Illness Investigations

DENMARK: The Statens Serum Institut is investigating an outbreak of 13 cases of Salmonella Typhimurium (sequence type 19). Outbreak victims are scattered across several regions of the country. The source of the outbreak has not yet been determined.

USA: FDA is investigating a new 84-case outbreak of Salmonella Newport infections linked to an as yet unidentified food product.

USA: CDC has declared the outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes illnesses traced to requesón cheese supplied by Clover Hill Dairy to be over. The outbreak caused 15 confirmed illnesses in 4 states. Fourteen of the outbreak victims were hospitalized, and one person died.

USA Cyclosporiasis Update: CDC reports 17,180 confirmed domestically acquired cases of cyclosporiasis across 48 states and the District of Columbia since May 1, 2026. Two people are dead and 922 have been hospitalized. In addition, the CDC is aware of 1,805 confirmed cases acquired as a result of international travel. A further 11,844 cases have been reported but either not yet lab-confirmed, or not yet determined to be domestically acquired.

Allergy Alert: Jaime’s Foods ATX recalls Jaime’s Spanish Village Jalapeno Ranch (16 oz; Lots 69, 86, 108, 113, 116, and 121; UPC 199284564923) due to undeclared egg. The product was sold at Central Market retail stores in Texas and local independent retailers in Austin, Texas beginning on April 3, 2026.

Food Safety Recall: Piazza Produce (dba CIBUS Fresh) recalls Cibus Fresh, Sprig & Sprout, and Jack & Olive brand Garden Salad (7.75 oz; Best by 7/13/2026, 7/14/2026/, 7/16/2026, 7/17/2026, 7/18/2026, 7/19/2026, 7/20/2026) due to possible Cyclospora contamination.

Pet Food Safety Recall: Revival Animal Health recalls Breeder’s Edge® and Shelter’s Choice® Feline Milk Replacers (Multiple Best by dates) due to low levels of potassium, copper, folic acid, choline and/or pyridoxine (vitamin B6). The products were manufactured by a third party under contract. Revival Animal Health has discontinued its relationship with the contracted manufacturer after finding manufacturing inconsistencies that led to the low levels. Revival is investigating nine complaints of potential gastrointestinal and bone development issues linked to these products, but no related illnesses have been confirmed.

Food Safety Recall: Rose-Marie Épicerie multiculturelle inc. (Québec, QC) recalls ÉPICES CRÉOLE (ÉPICE NATURELLE MARINADE) / Créole style spicy marinade (Sold up to 25 August 2026) due to potential for growth of Clostridium botulinum.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA Update: In an update to its Cyclospora surveillance data, CDC reports an increase to 6,707 laboratory-confirmed domestic cases. The agency is aware of more than 11,500 additional cases that are not laboratory confirmed or require further investigation and analysis, such as ruling out international travel. Many of the additional cases have been reported by Michigan and Ohio.

USA Update: Michigan reports a total of 10,077 Cyclospora cases in the state as of July 28, 2026. The Ohio Department of Health has not updated its case count; however Toledo-Lucas County Health Department is reporting 1,183 positive cases in the county, and a total of 2,856 positive cases for the entire Northwest Ohio region. Indiana is reporting 1,092 cases as of July 29, 2026.

USA: The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment alerts the public to a significant increase in Salmonella cases across the state. More than 250 Salmonella cases have been reported in Colorado since July 1, which is double the usual number of cases for the month. The source of the increased number of Salmonella cases is under investigation.
