CANADA (Update): PHAC reports that the Salmonella outbreak linked to pistachios has grown to encompass 105 confirmed cases in six provinces, including: British Columbia (6), Alberta (4), Manitoba (1), Ontario (27), Quebec (66), and New Brunswick (1). Sixteen people have been hospitalized.

BELGIUM: AFSCA and Zorg (Flanders) report an outbreak of shiga toxin-producing E. coli illnesses that have affected more than 20 residents and one staff member of six nursing homes in Flanders. Health authorities are investigating the source of the outbreak.
GERMANY: A cluster of 17 cases of shiga toxin-producing E. coli illnesses has been identified in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Six children have developed hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS). The source of the infections has not yet been determined.
USA: Louisiana health officialshave reported two recent deaths suspected to be linked to consuming raw oysters contaminated withVibrio vulnificus. The illnesses occurred after oysters harvested in Louisiana were served at restaurants in both Louisiana and Florida.

Food Safety Recall (Update): Southwind Foods, LLC recalls Frozen Shrimp (distributed between July 17 – August 8, 2025) due to possible Cesium-137 contamination. The recalled products were distributed to retailers, distributors, and wholesalers in Alabama, Arizona, California, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia, and Washington.
Food Safety Recall (Update): Country Eggs, LLC recalls LARGE BROWN CAGE FREE SUNSHINE YOLKS eggs due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recall has been updated to include packaged eggs with Sell-by dates of 7/1/25 through 9/18/25.
Food Safety Recall: California Department of Food and Agriculture(CDFA) orders recall and state-wide quarantine of Raw Goat Milk Cheddar Cheese (6 oz blocks; Lot code 90423255; Sell by 5/29/26) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recalled cheese was produced and packaged by Sierra Nevada Cheese Company.

The recalled product was sold only in Walmart stores in AK, AL, AR, CO, GA, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, OH, OK, OR, SD, TN, TX, WA, and WI between July 31, 2025 and August 16, 2025.

USA Update: CDC and FDA report that the Salmonella outbreak linked to Pistachio Cream is over. Four cases were confirmed to be part of this two-state outbreak, and one person was hospitalized.
USA Update: CDC reports that this year’s Salmonella outbreak linked to contact with backyard poultry has grown to 429 confirmed cases in 47 states. Two people have died, and 93 have been hospitalized. The outbreak includes infections with Salmonella Anatum, Cerro, Enteritidis, Indiana, Johannesburg, London, and Mbandaka. Outbreak victims range in age from <1 to 92 years, and 21% of the victims are less than 5 years of age. The outbreak strains have been linked to four hatcheries.
