United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: CDC reports 16 cases of E. coli O121 infections in 12 states, with 7 people hospitalized. Sick people in this outbreak reported tasting or eating raw cake batter made from a variety of cake mixes. No recall has been announced, but an onsite inspection has been initiated by FDA.

Food Safety Recall: McCormick & Company, Inc. recalls four seasoning products due to possible Salmonella contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Whole Foods Market recalls Cahill Cheddar Porter cheese (PLU 93579; Packed on dates May 17 – July 26, 2021) and Cahill Whiskey Cheddar cheese (PLU 54784 & 94884; Packed on dates May 17 – July 26, 2021) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: CDC and FDA are continuing to investigate an outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium illnesses associated with consumption of BrightFarms packaged salad greens. CDC has received reports of eleven confirmed outbreak cases in Illinois (6), Wisconsin (4) and Michigan (1). Two people have been hospitalized.

OUTBREAK ALERT UPDATE: CDC reports an additional 198 cases of Salmonella infections linked to contact with backyard poultry, bringing the current total to 672 confirmed cases in 47 states. Two people are dead as a result of their infections, and 157 have been hospitalized. One out of every four victims is a child less than five years old.

Allergy Alert Update: Lipari Foods recalls Troyer Manufacturing Backroad Country Dried Apricots (9-oz bags; Lot #440021117; Expiration dates 07/2021, 11/2021, & 12/2021) due to undeclared sulphites.
