Outbreak/Illness Investigations

SPAIN: A large Salmonella outbreak at a hotel in La Manga del Mar Menor (Murcia) has sickened 146 people, with 21 requiring hospitalization (13 adults and 8 children). Authorities have suspended the hotel’s kitchen.

USA: FDA is investigating a new outbreak of 31 Salmonella Enteritidis illnesses linked to an as-yet-unidentified food. Also, the agency has reopened a previous unsuccessful investigation into an outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis that has since increased to 95 cases (see also Country Eggs, LLC recall notice, below).

Allergy Alert: Taylor Fresh Foods recalls Taylor Farms Honey Balsamic Salad Kit (6/8.3oz; Code dates starting with TFRS; Best if used by up to and including September 4, 2025) due to undeclared sesame and soy.

Food Safety Recall: Country Eggs, LLC recalls Country Eggs LARGE BROWN SUNSHINE YOLKS (Sell by dates 7/1/25 through 9/16/25) due to possible Salmonella contamination. Recalled product was delivered to grocery stores and food service distributors.

Allergy Alert: Henlong Oriental Gifts & Foods Co. Ltd. recalls Lucky Boat brand Frozen Fried Featherback Fish Meat (400g; Best before 2028-02-08; UPC 8 934966 036136) due to undeclared wheat.

Allergy Alert: Camerises Mistouk (Labrecque, QC) recalls various onion confits due to undeclared wheat, barley, oats and sulphites.

Allergy Alert: De Bons Petits Plats (Montréal, QC) recalls CASSOULET AU CONFIT DE CANARD ET SAUCISSE DE TOULOUSE / Cassoulet with duck confit and Toulouse sausage (All lots) due to undeclared soy and sulphites.

USA Update: CDC reports eleven Salmonella Anatum infections, including 4 hospitalizations, linked to consumption of frozen sprouted beans. Ten states have reported outbreak cases.

United States

Allergy Alert: Blue Bell Ice Cream recalls Moo-llennium Crunch Ice Cream half gallon packaged in a Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough carton (1/2 gallon; Batch code 061027524) due to undeclared almond, walnut, and pecan.

Public Health Alert: FDA advises that retailers and consumers not eat, sell, or serve Deep-brand Premium Select Frozen SURTI UNDHIU MIX (12-oz (340 g); Lot IN25158K; Use by 06 Dec 2026) due to Salmonella contamination. The Salmonella strain recovered from this product matches the outbreak strain of Salmonella Anatum referenced above.
