OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATES: FDA updates consumers on the current status of its investigations into several foodborne illness outbreaks.

Food Safety Alert: The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture warns consumers to discard “Hilltop Meadow Farm” brand ’60 Day Aged Pepper Jack Raw Milk Cheese’ (½ lb, 1 lb, 2.5 lb, and 5 lb; Sell by dates up to and including 9/21/2023 or earlier) due to Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: One person is dead and 17 have been hospitalized in the outbreak of Salmonella illnesses linked to consumption of Malichita and Rudy brands of cantaloupes imported from Mexico according to the PHAC. Sixty-three lab-confirmed cases have been reported from five provinces. Three different Salmonella serotypes are associated with this outbreak.

FOOD SAFETY ALERT (UK): The Food Standards Agency is urging people not to eat a chocolate bar called ‘Cali-Gold’, which has been available for sale at Mansfield Market in Nottinghamshire. The warning follows police reports of illness in the Nottinghamshire area after consuming these products. One person has been arrested in connection with the incident.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: FDA and CDC report 99 US cases of lab-confirmed Salmonella linked to consumption of Malichita cantaloupes imported from Mexico. Cases have been reported in 32 states. Forty-five people have been hospitalized, and two outbreak-related deaths were reported in Minnesota.

Allergy Alert: Wine Country Gift Baskets recalls all gift baskets produced with Acorn Baking Company raspberry crème filled cookies (shipped from August 29, 2023 to November 21, 2023) as some of the baskets may contain hazelnut crème filled cookies instead.
