Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA (Update): CDC has received 34 illness reports from 13 states in an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections that has been linked to meats sliced at delis. Two people have died. Testing identified Listeria in an unopened package of Boar’s Head liverwurst collected as part of this investigation. Further testing is underway to see if it is the same strain as the one making people sick. 

USA: FDA and Maine Department of Marine Resources reports five cases of Campylobacter infections linked to consumption of certain oysters from Recompense Bay. See recall notice below.

Food Safety Recall: Boar’s Head Provisions Co., Inc. recalls approximately 207,528 pounds of liverwurst products and additional deli meat products that were produced on the same line and on the same day as the liverwurst due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Food Safety Recall: JFE Franchising, Inc. recalls a variety of vegetables and pepper mixes due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: ALDI Inc. recalls Freshire Farms jalapenos, green peppers and green beans due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: ALB-USA Enterprises, Inc. recalls ALB Flavor brand Cinnamon Powder (100g; Lot LA02; Best before 30/08/2025; UPC 5304000333362) due to elevated lead.

Food Safety Recall: Maine Department of Marine Resources recalls oysters harvested from American/eastern oysters from lease sites CAS RC2 and CAS RCX from June 19th through July 16th in Casco Bay due to five reported Campylobacter illnesses.

Food Safety Recall: Supreme Service Solutions LLC. (dba Supreme Produce) recalls multiple (Kroger) Supreme Produce brand vegetable products due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA (Update): FDA and CDC are now aware of 74 illnesses in 28 states linked to consumption of Diamond Shruumz-Brand Chocolate Bars, Cones, & Gummies. Sixty-two (62) of the 74 victims sought medical treatment, and 38 were hospitalized. A second death has been reported.

USA (Update): FDA is investigating 31 confirmed cases of Salmonella Irumu in an outbreak that has not yet been linked to a specific food source. The total number of confirmed cases has increased from 29, reported one week ago.
