OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: FDA continues to investigate the source an outbreak of Salmonella Javiana that has infected 64 people so far. No specific source has been found as yet.
Food Safety Alert: Consumer Reports has found E. coli O157:H7 in a chub of Kroger brand 93% lean ground beef (1-lb chub; Use or freeze by 1/11/2022). The ground beef was supplied to Kroger by Interstate Meats (USDA Est No. 965).

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE:FDA reports that the number of Salmonella Javiana infections has risen to 28. The source of the outbreak is still unknown. FDA has initiated a traceback investigation.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION ALERT:CDC reports 127 cases of Salmonella Oranienburg infections in 25 states. Eighteen people have been hospitalized. A specific food source has not yet been identified, but several clusters of confirmed cases have been associated with eating at restaurants in multiple states.

OUTBREAK ALERT:CFIA and the Ontario Ministry of Health are investigating an outbreak of Salmonella infections in the Greater Toronto Area associated with consumption of Shredded pork rind and Shredded pork skin in known to have been sold to certain restaurants in the GTA which serve Vietnamese/Asian meals.

OUTBREAK ALERT (FRANCE):The Hauts-de-France regional health agency reports 21 confirmed cases of food poisoning among students in three schools in Saint-André-Lez-Lille. Several of the students required hospitalization. All of the affected individuals ate in the community canteen.
OUTBREAK ALERT (UK):Scientists have again confirmed a link between Salmonella detected in feeder mice distributed by Monkfield Nutrition Ltd across all four UK nations, and an outbreak of human cases of Salmonella. The risk to the general public is considered to be very low but we are urging reptile owners who purchase certain feeder rodents for their pets to take extra precautions to avoid becoming ill with salmonellosis.
