Outbreak/Illness Investigations

SWEDEN (Update): The Public Health Agency of Sweden reports 15 confirmed cases of Listeria monocytogenes illness among restaurante patrons who ate at Coco & Carmen in Östermalm, Stockholm from 23 to 27 Sept 2025. Around 150 people sought hospital treatment for stomach illness, and four patients developed sepsis. Thirteen different food items and several kitchen surfaces at the restaurant tested positive for listeria; the highest bacterial counts were found in truffle mix, semifreddo espresso, and wild boar consommé.

Food Safety Recall: Nate’s Fine Foods, LLC recalls multiple pasta products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Pacific Coast Producers recalls four canned fruit products due to potential contamination with heavy metal (lead).

Food Safety Recall: Vicky IT Inc. recalls Bona Fish, uneviscerated (10 lbs) due to contaminated with mold and insect larvae and possible Clostridium botulinum contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Garden Fresh Foods, Inc. recalls Sliced (1/4″) green onions, refrigerated (5/6lbs bags/case; Lot code 09/15/25; Use before  09/22/25) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Signature Wafers, LLC recalls Chef Robert Irvine’s Protein Bar. Chocolatey Peanut Butter Wafer Bar (18 x 45 bars/carton; Lot codes  07102025SW and 07112025SW; Expiration dates 08 SE 2026 and 09 SE 2026) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Pet Food Safety Recall: Arrow Reliance Inc recalls Darwin’s Natural Pet Products BioLogics, All-Natural & Grain-Free BEEF RECIPE FOR DOGS (2 lb (907g); Lot #11895; Mfg date Jul 29 2025) and Darwin’s Natural Pet Products BioLogics, All-Natural & Grain-Free BEEF RECIPE FOR DOGS (2 lb (907g); Lot #11826; Mfg date Jul 07 2025) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Pet Food Safety Recall: Raw Bistro Pet Fare recalls Raw Bistro Dog Fare Grass-Fed Beef Entrée, Frozen (3 lb bags and bulk 18 lb cases; Lot 239; Best by 08/27/2026) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Allergy Alert: Boucherie Georges inc. (Saint-Hyacinthe, QC) recalls PÂTÉ MEXICAIN AGNEAU ET BŒUF / Mexican style lamb and beef pâté (All lots) due to undeclared wheat, milk, and mustard.

Allergy Alert: Salaison La maison du rôti inc. recalls SAUCISSE ITALIENNE DOUCE / Mild Italian sausage (Pack date SE.06.25) due to undecalred milk and wheat.

SWEDEN: At least 130 people have sought medical care and more than 15 required hospital treatment in an outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes illnesses linked to the Stockholm restaurant, Coco & Carmen. Four victims are being treated for sepsis.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

BELGIUM (Update): AFSCA reports that the outbreak of shiga toxin-producing E. coli illnesses that ravaged several nursing homes is most likely linked to contaminated raw ground beef. The outbreak caused in excess of 70 illnesses, including 9 deaths.

DENMARK (Update): The Statens Serum Institut reports 7 confirmed outbreak cases of Listeria monocytogenes (4 men and 3 women) linked to consumption of fish cakes. Five of the cases were reported in Zealand and the other two in North Denmark.

United States

Food Safety Recall: Wholesale Produce Supply recalls Fresh Cut Cantaloupe and Harvest Cuts and Fresh and Finest brands of cantaloupe and mixed fruit products containing cantaloupe due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Food Safety Recall / Alert: Nate’s Fine Foods, Inc. recalls certain lots of pre-cooked pasta including fettucine, linguine, and farfalle (bowtie), after a sample of linguine pasta collected and tested by FreshRealm tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes.  

Food Safety Recall: Albertsons Companies recalls several store-made deli items, supplied by Fresh Creative Foods due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The recall was initiated because these products contain a recalled bowtie pasta ingredient manufactured by Nate’s Fine Foods of Roseville, CA.

Food Safety Recall: Noix Orientale (Laval, QC) recalls Pistaches en vrac / Bulk pistachios (Sold between 20 June and 29 September 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Pâtisserie Villeray (Montréal, QC) recalls Nid d’amour aux pistaches / Pistachio love nest (Sold between 26 March and 24 September 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.
