Outbreak/Illness Investigations

USA: CDC is investigating an outbreak of 11 cases of Salmonella Richmond infections in 7 states. Three people have been hospitalized. FDA traceback investigation has linked the outbreak cases to a single lot of organic moringa leaf powder from Vallon Farm Direct PVT LTD of Johdpur, India. The implicated product, Member’s Mark Super Greens dietary supplement powder, was sold at Sam’s Club locations across the USA. FDA is working to determine the point of contamination and what additional products were made with the implicated lot of moringa leaf powder.

Public Health Alert: FDA reports recall of Member’s Mark Super Greens dietary supplement powder (All lot codes and Best before / Best by dates) due to Salmonella contamination. Recalled product was sold at Sam’s Club locations across the USA. Sam’s Club has ceased distribution and sales of this product

Food Safety Recall: Vanguard Enterprises, LLC. DBA Bedrock MF recalls Monarch Premium Kratom brand Bali Gold, Red Bali, Green Maeng Da, and White Elephant powder (Multiple sizes; Lot codes 020123PA3F-T, 020123PA3F-G, 020123PA3F-R, and 020123PA3F-W) due to Salmonella contamination.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

FRENCH POLYNESIA (RANGIROA): Eighty cases of food poisoning, including one death, may have been associated with prepared meals sold at a charity fundraising event. Symptoms among cases included nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dehydration, high fever (>38.5°C), and blood in stool or vomit.

USA (Update): CDC reports seven new confirmed outbreak cases of Listeria monocytogenes infections associated with consumption of prepared pasta meals, bringing the official total to 27 cases in 18 states. Six people have died, and 25 of the 27 confirmed victims required hospitalization.
