FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Carolina Seafood Inc. that an April 29 to May 2, 2025 inspection of the company’s seafood processing facility found serious violations of the seafood Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulation.

Public Heath Alert (New Mexico): The New Mexico Department of Health warns the public to avoid raw dairy products following the death of a newborn from Listeria infection. The infant’s mother dramk unpasteurized (raw) milk during her pregnancy.

CANADA (Update): The Public Health Agency of Canada has closed its investigation of a Salmonella outbreak that caused 37 confirmed illnesses in Alberta (15), British Columbia (18), Northwest Territories (1), and Ontario (3). The outbreak was linked to contact with Puppy Love and Puppy World brand dog treats or with dogs who ate these treats. Eight people were hospitalized.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

NORWAY: The Norwegian Institute of Public Health reports an outbreak of six cases of Listeria monocytogenes linked to consumption of smalahove, smalahove jam, or sausage rolls from Smalahovetunet Voss. Illnesses began between January 2025 and January 2026. The outbreak victims range in age from 60 to 90 years and have all been hospitalized. The Veterinary Institute has recovered Listeria monocytogenes from an unopened package of frozen sausage and from an opened package of jam from the homes of two of the infected individuals. Genetic sequencing of the two isolates is in progress.
