Food Safety Alert: MAPAQ advises the public not to consume raw (unpasteurized) milk purchased at la Ferme R. Mailloux et Fils inc. (Saint-Paul-d’Abbotsford, QC) as it is unsafe to consume. In the province of Québéc, all dairy products destined for sale or distribution must be produced in a facility holding a permit from MAPAQ.

Outbreak/Illness Investigations

MULTIPLE COUNTRIES: Between 01 Jan 2023, and 05 Sep 2025, a total of 289 confirmed cases of Salmonella Strathcona have been reported across 19 EU/EEA countries and three non-EU countries (UK, US, Canada). The outbreak is linked to consumption of cherry tomatoes from Sicily, Italy.

USA: CDC is investigating a ten-state outbreak of Salmonella Enteritidis illnesses linked to home-delivered prepared meals from Metabolic Meals. Sixteen people have been confirmed to be infected with the outbreak strain, with seven requiring hospitalization.

Food Safety Recall: The Middlefield Original Cheese Co-Op facility in Middlefield, OH recalls multiple cheese products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
