United States

Food Safety Alert: FDA advises restaurants and retailers not to sell or serve, and consumers not to purchase or eat, Enoki mushrooms produced by Shandong Youhe Biotechnology Co., China and distributed by Sun Hong Foods, Inc., due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Samples of these mushrooms have yielded a Listeria monocytogenes strain that match the strains recovered from patients in an ongoing outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes infections.

Allergy Alert: Joy Joy’s Bakery recalls Ube Spanish Bread, Ube Ensaymada, and Ube Roll (Sold  between 1/15/23 and 1/25/23) due to undeclared wheat.

Allergy Alert: Snack Innovations Inc. recalls multiple Drizzilicious branded mini rice cake bites, and drizzled popcorn products due to undeclared peanut. Please refer to the recall notice for a complete list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Almondy recalls Almondy Chocolate cake with Daim (14.1 oz; Batch code L2140; Best before NOV.18.2023) due to possible foreign matter contamination (metal object). The product was sold only at IKEA stores.

Canada

Food Safety Alert: Consumers are advised not to consume various Montefino cheeses (Best before 23/11/25; Sold up to and including 24 January 2023) due to improper pasteurization of the milk used in production. Please refer to the Alert for a complete list of affected products.

Allergy Alert: Charcuterie Noël inc. (Montréal, QC) recalls three varieties of meat pie (Sold up to 25 January 2023) due to undeclared egg. Please refer to the recall notice for a list of affected products.

Food Safety Recall: Val-Mont (Montréal, QC) recalls DOM brand Saumon steelhead fumé / Smoked steelhead salmon (70g; Sold up to 25 January 2023) because the recalling company did not store the product at the correct temperature.

Food Safety Recall: 1228300 Alberta Ltd. (Mother Dairy) recalls Mother Dairy brand Paneer Fresh Cheese (340g & 1.9 kg; Expiry codes 2023/03/08 & 23MR08, respectively; UPC 6 98708 98763 3 & 6 98708 98764 0, respectively) due to E. coli contamination. The recalled product was sold in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.

Europe

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (Slovenia): The National Institute of Public Health reports an outbreak of 138 cases of Salmonella infections (94 lab-confirmed and 44 probable) that took place November 12-26, 2022 was linked to the consumption of steak tartare. Sampling and analysis carried out as part of a series of inspections of the supplier’s operations recovered Salmonella isolates that were closely related to the outbreak strain.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE (Sweden): The Public Health Agency reports 48 cases of Salmonella Enteritidis infections spread across 13 regions of Sweden in an outbreak that has been linked genetically to contaminated eggs from a single producer. The contaminated eggs, which were distributed under a number of different brand names, were recalled earlier in January.

Allergy Alert (Belgium): Albert Heijn recalls Albert Heijn brand Boulettes Vegan à la sauce piri piri  / Vegan balls in piri piri sauce (170g; Use by 27-1-2023, 31-1-2023, 3-2-2023 and 7-2-2023 ) due to undeclared soy.

Allergy Alert (Denmark): PLANTE kompagniet ApS recalls PLANTE kompagniet økologisk kerneknækbrød, multikorn / Organic multigrain crisp bread and PLANTE kompagniet økologisk kerneknækbrød, chia / Organic crisp bread with chia (150g; Best before 09.06.2023) due to undeclared gluten.

Allergy Alert (Germany): HMF Food Production GmbH & Co. KG recalls FJORDKRONE, Riesengarnelenschwänze / King prawn tails (615g, All varieties and Best before dates) due to undeclared sulphur dioxide.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Manufacturer recalls various Harvest Morn High Protein Bars (60g and 55g; All batch codes) due to inadequately declared milk and/or peanuts and/or soya.

Allergy Alert (Netherlands): Albert Heijn recalls AH brand Vegan balletjes in piri piri saus  / Vegan balls in piri piri sauce (170g; Use by 27-1-2023, 31-1-2023, 3-2-2023 and 7-2-2023 ) due to undeclared soy.

Allergy Alert (UK): Aldi recalls various Harvest Morn High Protein Bars (60g and 180g; All batch codes) due to inadequately declared milk and/or peanuts and/or soya.

Food Safety Recall (Belgium): L’agriculteur Bas recalls Boer Bas brand pistachios (200g – 500g; Stat No 0802520000 Poste IR – Lot N°12; Best before 30/08/2023 and 31/08/2023) due to presence of aflatoxin above acceptable limits.

Food Safety Recall (France): BLEDINA – LABORATOIRE GALLIA recalls Laboratoire Gallia brand Pré-Gallia Bébé Expert infant formula for premature infants and infants who are underweight at birth (400g; Lot 2023.07.13; Best before 13/07/2023) due to possible unspecified bacteriological contamination.
