OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: One person is dead and 17 have been hospitalized in the outbreak of Salmonella illnesses linked to consumption of Malichita and Rudy brands of cantaloupes imported from Mexico according to the PHAC. Sixty-three lab-confirmed cases have been reported from five provinces. Three different Salmonella serotypes are associated with this outbreak.

FOOD SAFETY ALERT (UK): The Food Standards Agency is urging people not to eat a chocolate bar called ‘Cali-Gold’, which has been available for sale at Mansfield Market in Nottinghamshire. OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: FDAandCDC report 99 US cases of lab-confirmed Salmonella linked to consumption of Malichita cantaloupes imported from Mexico. Cases have been reported in 32 states. Forty-five people have been hospitalized, and two outbreak-related deaths were reported in Minnesota.
Allergy Alert: Wine Country Gift Baskets recalls all gift baskets produced with Acorn Baking Company raspberry crème filled cookies (shipped from August 29, 2023 to November 21, 2023) as some of the baskets may contain hazelnut crème filled cookies instead.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: TheFDA is investigating a new outbreak of 40 confirmed cases of Salmonella Newport. No specific food item has yet been associated with the outbreak.
OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: TheFDA continues to investigate the source of elevated blood lead levels linked to consumption of cinnamon applesauce pouches. The agency has received 52 reports of adverse events potentially linked to recalled product to date.
