OUTBREAK UPDATE:FDA has initiated a traceback investigation in a new outbreak of Salmonella Hartford for which a food product has not yet been identified. Thirty-one people have been confirmed to have been infected with the outbreak strain.
FDA Warning Letter: FDA warns Arrow Reliance Inc. (dba Darwin’s Natural Pet Products) that the company is using an unapproved/unsafe animal food additive, that certain product lots of cat food are adulterated due to Salmonella contamination, and that the company has neglected to register with the FDA as a food facility as required by law. Arrow Reliance Inc. was given 15 business days in which to respond to the Warning Letter.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION: The Florida Department of Health and its partner agencies in Georgia and Alabama are investigating eight cases of Salmonella infections linked to consumption of wild harvest oysters from Florida. The FDA advises consumers not to eat, and restaurants and food retailers not to sell, and to dispose of recalled wild harvest oysters from FL-3012, Cedar Key, Florida, harvested between December 16, 2022, and February 24, 2023, due to possible Salmonella contamination.
