United States

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION UPDATE: FDA reports a second brand of organic basil linked to the 12-case outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium. Both brands of implicated basil were grown in Colombia.

Food Safety Alert: Sammy’s Milk (Newport Beach, CA) has been asked by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to provide a warning against the use of its Goat Milk Toddler Formula as an infant formula because the FDA is concerned that the formula may not meet all FDA requirements for infant formula and may be unsafe and not provide sufficient nutrition when used as an infant formula.

Food Safety Recall: Infinite Herbs LLC recalls Infinite Herbs fresh organic basil (2.5-oz pkgs; Sold between February 1 and April 6, 2024; UPC 8 18042 02147 7; Product of Colombia) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recalled product was shipped directly to Trade Joe’s retail distribution centers in Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and Virginia and to two Fruit Center Marketplace stores in Massachusetts.

Food Safety Recall Expansion: Infinite Herbs LLC recalls Melissa’s brand fresh organic basil (2-oz pkgs and 4-oz pkgs; UPC 0 45255 14142 9 and 0 45255 14439 0, respectively; Sold between February 10th and 20th; Product of Colombia) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The recalled products were sold at Dierberg’s stores in Illinois and Missouri.

Allergy Alert: One World Foods Inc. recalls One World Foods brand Cajun BBQ Chicken Burgers (681g; Lot 23187; Best before 2025 FE 06; UPC 6 28451 59989 0) due to undeclared egg and soy.

OUTBREAK INVESTIGATION (Denmark): The Statens Serum Institut has received confirmed reports of 12 cases of Salmonella Typhimurium sequence type 19 in March and April 2024. Investigations are underway to determine the source of this outbreak.
