Outbreak/Illness Investigations
USA: FDA and CDC are investigating an outbreak of 98 Salmonella Enteritidis illnesses in 17 states. Twenty-six people have been hospitalized. The most recent onset of symptoms was June 30, 2026. The outbreak has been linked to various brands of shell eggs from Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. The company announced a product recall on July 22, 2026.

Food Safety Recall: Maple Leaf Foods, Inc. recalls approximately 12,036 pounds of not ready-to-eat (NRTE) smoked bacon product that was imported from Canada without the benefit of import reinspection into the United States.

Allergy Alert: Mondelez Canada Inc. recalls Dairy Milk Oreo Candy (bar) (38g and 12 x 38g; Multiple batch codes and date codes) due to undeclared nuts (pistachios).

Allergy Alert (Ireland): Trade recalls Royal Orient Palm Sugar (1 kg; Best before 01/10/2026; Product of Thailand) due to undeclared sulphites.

Food Safety Recall (Australia): Yumbah Aquaculture Ltd recalls Yumbah Australian Greenlip Abalone (1 kg; Best before 12/05/2027) due to presence of biotoxin (brevetoxin).
