Outbreak/Illness Investigations

CANADA (Update): The Public Health Agency of Canada reports 166 cases of Salmonella infections linked to consumption of various brands of pistachios and pistachio-containing products. The pistachios are imported from Iran. Multiple Salmonella serotypes have been determined to be part of this outbreak, including almonella Agona, Salmonella Anatum, Salmonella Bareilly, Salmonella Branderup, Salmonella Corvallis, Salmonella Havana, Salmonella Kottbus, Salmonella Mbandaka, Salmonella Meleagridis, Salmonella Ohio, Salmonella Reading, Salmonella Senftenberg, and Salmonella Tennessee. Infections have been reported from British Columbia (9), Alberta (7), Manitoba (3), Ontario (64), Quebec (82), and New Brunswick (1). Twenty-five people have been hospitalized.

United States

Food Safety Recall Update: Spring & Mulberry expands earlier recall to include Multiple Flavors of Chocolate Bars due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Superfoods Inc. DBA as Live it Up of New York, New York recalls Live it Up Super Greens Original and Wild Berry Flavored pouches and packs (All lots beginning with the letter “A” and all stick pack products) due to possible Salmonella contamination. The products have been linked to an outbreak of Salmonella Typhimurium.

Allergy Alert: L’Affamé prêt-à-mange (Saguenay, QC) recalls four prepared items (All lots) due to undeclared mustard, soy, and wheat (gluten).

Allergy Alert: Aliments Cinq Bonheurs inc. recalls Wonton au poulet et aux oignions verts / Chicken and green onion wonton (300g; All lots; UPC 6 28774 02323 2) due to undeclared egg.

Food Safety Recall: Pâtisserie Ayda (Roxboro, QC) recalls SANDWICH AUX PISTACHES / Sandwiches with pistachios (Sold between 22 October and 16 December 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Multiple firms recall Various pistachios and pistachio-containing products due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Pâtisserie Al Sham (Laval, QC) recalls multiple pastries due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Boucherie La Petite-Patrie inc. (Montréal, QC) recalls Pâté de campagne aux pistaches et canneberges / Pâté with pistachios and cranberries (Sold between 4 December 2025 and 13 January 2026) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Délices des cèdres (Laval, QC) recalls Baklavas and Mamoud (Sold between 8 October and 1 December 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Traiteur Eatz Chez Vouz (Dollard-des-Ormeaux, QC) recalls Biscuit Dubaï (Sold between 14 November and 8 December 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Marché Ariya La Prairie (La Prairie, QC) recalls MÉLANGE SENTIER NATURE  / Nature trail mix (Sold between 6 August and 1 October 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Food Safety Recall: Marché Place Richard inc. (Sherbrooke, QC) recalls Pistache sans écale / Shelled pistachios (Sold between 28 July and 1 September 2025) due to possible Salmonella contamination.
