Outbreak/Illness Investigations

FRENCH POLYNESIA (RANGIROA): Eighty cases of food poisoning, including one death, may have been associated with prepared meals sold at a charity fundraising event. Symptoms among cases included nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dehydration, high fever (>38.5°C), and blood in stool or vomit.

USA (Update): CDC reports seven new confirmed outbreak cases of Listeria monocytogenes infections associated with consumption of prepared pasta meals, bringing the official total to 27 cases in 18 states. Six people have died, and 25 of the 27 confirmed victims required hospitalization.

Food Safety Recall: Moonlight Companies recalls California-Grown Conventional Yellow and White Peaches (Multiple lot codes) due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Allergy Alert: Patapom inc. (Saint-Cyprien, QC) recalls PIZZA GARNIE / Dressed pizza (180g & 650g; All lots) due to undeclared soy.

Food Safety Recall: Fresh Nuts Inc. recalls certain roasted pistachios due to possible Salmonella contamination.
