Outbreak/Illness Investigations

CANADA (Update): PHAC has reported 52 lab-confirmed cases of Salmonella in an outbreak that includes cases from British Columbia (3), Manitoba (1), Ontario (9), and Québec (39). Ten people have been hospitalized. The outbreak strain has been found in samples of Habibi brand Pistachio Kernels, which have been recalled. The investigation is on-going, and PHAC warns that actual number of sick people in Canada is likely much higher. Researchers have estimated that there are 26 unreported Salmonella cases for each case that is reported to health authorities.

SPAIN: Local health officials are investigating an outbreak of 296 individuals at the Somontano Wine Festival in Barbastro, Huesca. One woman with preexisting conditions required hospitalization.

USA (FLORIDA) Update: As reported in Food Safety News, Florida health authorities have traced a 21-case outbreak of shiga toxin-producing E. coli and Campylobacter infections to raw milk produced at Keely Farms Dairy in New Smyrna Beach, FL.

Allergy Alert: Friendly’s Ice Cream recalls Friendly’s Cookies & Cream Ice Cream (48 oz; Best by 11/26/25) due to undeclared soy and wheat.

Food Safety Recall: King Cheesecake Company, Inc. recalls Multiple cheesecake products containing pecans due to possible Salmonella contamination.

Canada

Allergy Alert: Solly’s (Lachine, QC) recalls BAGEL AU FROMAGE / Cheese bagel (2-pack; All lots) due to undeclared sesame seeds, and MINI SANDWICHES ASSORTIES / Assorted mini-sandwiches (multi-pack; All lots) due to mustard, milk, and sesame.

Allergy Alert: Restaurant Boucherie BarBuck inc. (Lac-Etchemin, QC) recalls SAUCISSE JARDINIÈRE ET CORNICHON / Garden sausage and pickle (All lots) due to undeclared milk and mustard.

Food Safety Recall: Boulangerie Andalos Inc. recalls multiple Andalos brand and unbranded bakery products due to Salmonella contamination.
