Outbreak/Illness Investigations
CANADA: The Public Health Agency of Canada is investigating an outbreak of 52 Salmonella illnesses linked to consumption of certain pistachios and pistachio-containing products. Outbreak cases have been reported in British Columbia (3), Manitoba (1), Ontario (9), and Québec (39). Victims range in age from 2 to 89 years old. Nine people have been hospitalized.
United States
Food Safety Recall (California): Burrata cheese produced and packaged by Gioia Cheese Company of Los Angeles County is the subject of a statewide recall and quarantine order following the confirmed detection of Salmonella bacteria in the firm’s burrata cheese sampled and tested by the California Department of Food and Agriculture.
Canada
Allergy Alert: Fromageries Bel Canada Inc. recalls Boursin brand Dairy-free Garlic & Fine Herbs Plant-based Spread (170g; Best before 2025/AUG/07; UPC 0 41757 02355 3) due to undeclared milk.
Allergy Alert: Chez Chartier (Dorval, QC) recalls various sausages due to undeclared egg, nuts, peanuts, soy, and/or sulphites.
Food Safety Recall: Marché Port-Royal inc (Metro) (Bécancour, QC) recalls Bœuf haché / Ground beef (Sold during the morning of 06/08/2025) due to foreign matter contamination (pieces of plastic).
Food Safety Recall: Dépanneur Ben (Barraute, QC) recalls SAUCE SPAGHETTI (500g & 1000g; Sold up to 5 August 2025) due to potential for growth of Clostridium botulinum.

Allergy Alert (Ireland): FSAI warns consumers that Terranova Fermented Ashwagandha food supplement (50 capsules; Batch code 2400881; Best before 05/2028; Product of UK) contains undeclared peanut.
Food Safety Recall Update (Ireland): O’Hanlon Herbs recalls various brands of O’Hanlon Herbs potted Coriander due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Food Safety Recall (UK): Daylesford Organic recalls Daylesford Organic Cacao Double Nut Butter (230g; Batch code 230625; Best before February 2027) due to foreign matter contamination (pieces of metal).
